M1 nd M2 (fixed instlltion with minimum vibrtion nd fixed instlltion with considerble or
high vibrtion level, respectively).
Electromechanical environment
E1 (housing/light industry). The meter’s signl cbles must be drwn with minimum distnce of
25 cm to other instlltions.
Climatic environment
Instlltion must tke plce in environments with non-condensing humidity nd in closed
loctions (indoors). The mbient temperture must be within 5 °C…55 °C. The flow sensor, however,
my be instlled in condensing environments.
Maintenance and repair
The flow sensor nd the temperture sensors must not be seprted from the clcultor. Repirs
require subsequent reverifiction in n ccredited lbortory.

1 General information
Please read this guide carefully before installing the energy meter.
In case of incorrect mounting, Kamstrup's guarantee obligations no longer apply.
Note tht the following instlltion conditions must be obeyed:
- Pressure stge: PN16/PN25, see mrking. The flow sensor mrking does not pply to
enclosed ccessories.
- Pressure stge
sensor set type Ø 5.2: PN16 nd PN25
At medium tempertures bove 90 °C, nd below 15 °C, nd the clcultor should be wll-
mounted.

2 Temperature sensors
The temperture sensors used to mesure inlet nd outlet tempertures, respectively, re
mtched sensor set tht must never be seprted.
Temperture sensors re mounted in MULTICAL® 302 from the fctory. According to EN 1434, the
cble length must not be chnged.
The temperture sensor which is mounted in the flow sensor from the fctory hs no mrking on
the sensor cble. The other sensor, which is mrked with green plstic ring, must be mounted in
the "opposite" pipe compred to the flow sensor.
2.1 Mounting of temperature sensors
MULTICAL® 302 comes with Ø 5.2 mm Pt500 sensor pir (mtched sensors) with 1.5 m silicone
cble. This sensor type cn be used s direct sensor using coupling nd n O-ring nd s pocket
sensor to be mounted in sensor pocket.
One temperture sensor is mounted in the flow sensor from the fctory. The other sensor ought to
be mounted s direct sensor. Alterntively, both sensors must be mounted in sensor pockets s
symmetricl sensor instlltion gives the best mesuring result. If one of the sensors is not to be
mounted in the flow sensor, it must insted be mounted s close to the outlet of the flow meter s
possible so tht the distnce between the flow sensor nd the temperture sensor is mx. 12 cm.
Asymmetricl sensor instlltion (one direct sensor nd one pocket sensor) is only dvisble
where ntionl regultions llow this, nd never in systems with low differentil temperture nd/
or low wter flow.
Example:
If the disply shows tht the flow sensor is to
be mounted in the inlet pipe, the sensor with
the green plstic ring must be mounted in the
outlet pipe.
2.2 Coupling for direct sensor
Slide the enclosed plstic coupling into plce
from the end of the sensor tube until you feel
click when the coupling hs reched the first
knurling.

The coupling must not be pushed further down
thn the first knurling.
No mtter where the direct sensor is instlled,
it is very importnt tht you observe the tole-
rnces stted in the drwing to the left. If not,
the O-ring my not provide correct seling.

3 Information codes "INFO"
MULTICAL® 302 constntly monitors number of importnt functions. If there is serious error in
the mesuring system or instlltion, flshing "INFO" is displyed, nd n info code cn be red
by ctivting the push-button until the mesuring unit displys "INFO". The info code is only shown
if n error hs occurred, unless the meter is configured for "sttic info codes".

If more thn one info code ppers t time, the sum of info codes is displyed. If e.g. both
temperture sensors re outside mesuring rnge, info code 12 (info codes 4+8) is displyed.
Info codes 4 nd 8 re set when the temperture flls below 0.00 °C or exceeds 155.00 °C. Info
codes 4 nd 8 re lso set for short-circuited nd disconnected sensors.
Note: If Info = 4 or 8, the meter's energy clcultion nd volume ccumultion stop.

4 Mounting of flow sensor
Prior to instlltion of the flow sensor, the
system should be flushed nd protection
plugs/plstic diphrgms removed from the
flow sensor.
Correct flow sensor position (inlet or outlet)
ppers from the disply of MULTICAL® 302.
The flow direction is indicted by n rrow on
the side of the flow sensor.
The flow sensor my be used in both PN16 nd
PN25 instlltions nd is vilble mrked
either PN16 or PN25 or mrked both PN16 nd
PN25, s required.

Enclosed couplings, if ny, re only intended for PN16. Suitble PN25 couplings must be used in
PN25 instlltions.
In connection with G¾x110 mm, it must be checked tht 12 mm thred run-out is sufficient. See
figure below.
Stright inlet: MULTICAL® 302 requires neither stright inlet nor stright outlet to meet the Me-
suring Instruments Directive (MID) 2004/22/ EF nd EN 1434:2007. A stright inlet section is only
necessry in cse of hevy flow disturbnces before the meter. It is recommended to follow the
guidelines of CEN CR 13582.

In order to prevent cvittion, the operting pressure t MULTICAL® 302 must be min. 1 br t qp
nd min. 2 br t qs. This pplies to tempertures up to pprox. 80 °C.
MULTICAL® 302 must not be exposed to pressure lower thn the mbient pressure (vcuum).

Important!
The meter is most sensitive to ir bubbles in the
wter when the plstic cse points upwrds.
Therefore, this mounting position ought only
to be used in instlltions with high operting
pressure nd utomtic ventiltion like e.g.
direct connected district heting.

4.2 Flow direction
When the meter is instlled in the ppliction,
it must be ensured tht the flow direction is
correct.
Flow direction out of the figure – the direction is
indicted on the flow sensor.
Flow direction into the figure – the direction is
indicted on the flow sensor.
4.3 Installation position
In the upper left corner of the meter disply, n
icon indictes if the meter is positioned in the
inlet or outlet pipe.
It is very importnt to ensure tht the meter
is correctly positioned s either inlet meter or
outlet meter. The instlltion position of the
meter cn be chnged in the Setup Mode (for
further informtion, see prgrph 9.1, pge
13).

4.4 Humidity and condensation
If MULTICAL® 302 is instlled in moist
environments, it must be turned 45° compred
to the pipe xis, s shown in the drwing to the
left.

5 Mounting of calculator
5.1 Compact mounting
The clcultor is mounted directly on the
flow sensor. The clcultor is seled from
the fctory, nd therefore, further seling is
unnecessry, unless the sels on the bck of
the clcultor hve been broken.
In cse of strong condenstion (e.g. cooling
pplictions), wll mounting of the clcultor is
recommended, see prgrph 5.2, pge 10.

In connection with compct mounting the cble

relesing the cble binder A. Subsequently
insert the cble binder through one of the
mounting eyes Bnd drw it round the cble
C. Finlly the cble binder is strpped round
the flow cble gin tying the cble to the flow
sensor D.

5.2 Wall mounting
The wll fitting mkes it possible to mount
MULTICAL® 302 directly on n even wll. Use
the fitting s templte to mrk nd drill two 6
mm holes in the wll.

5.3 Position of calculator
If the flow sensor is mounted in humid or
condensing environment, the clcultor must
be plced in higher position thn the flow
sensor.
6 Battery supply
MULTICAL® 302 is bttery-supplied with either 1 or 2 A-cell btteries. Optiml bttery lifetime is
obtined by keeping the bttery temperture below 30 °C, e.g. by wll mounting.
The voltge of lithium bttery is lmost constnt throughout the lifetime of the bttery
(pprox. 3.65 V). Therefore, it is not possible to determine the remining cpcity of the bttery by
mesuring the voltge. However, INFO code 128 indictes tht the bttery voltge is too low.
The bttery cnnot nd must not be chrged nd must not be short-circuited. Used btteries must
be hnded in for pproved destruction, e.g. to Kmstrup A/S.
