Mechanical environment
M1 (fixed instlltion with minimum vibrtion).
M2 (significnt or high level of vibrtion nd shock).
Electromagnetic environment
E1 nd E2 (domestic/light industry nd industry). The meter’s signl cbles must be drwn t min.
25 cm distnce to other instlltions.
Climatic environment
Must be instlled in environments with non-condensing humidity s well s in closed loctions
(indoors). The mbient temperture must be within 5…55 °C.
Maintenance and repair
The district heting supplier cn replce communiction module, bttery nd temperture sensor
pir. The flow sensor my lso be replced, but must be suitble for mixed fluid pplictions nd
possible sub-zero tempertures.
MULTICAL® 6M2, type 6M2-G/H must be connected to temperture sensor pir type Pt500.
MULTICAL® 6M2, type 6M2-G cn be connected to flow sensor type electronic pick-up or flow sen-
sors with reed switch output.
MULTICAL® 6M2, type 6M2-H must be connected to flow sensor with 24 V ctive pulse output.
Irrespective of flow sensor type, “pulses/litre” must be identicl in flow sensor nd clcultor.

1 General information
Read this guide before installing the meter.
Kamstrup’s warranty obligations do not apply in case of incorrect mounting.
Plese note tht the following instlltion conditions must be obeyed:
- Pressure stge Kmstrup
sensor pir type DS: PN16
- Pressure stge Kmstrup
stinless steel pockets: PN25/PN40 - depending on type
Note: Plese be wre tht depending on the flow prt it my be recommended to use flnge
meter t high medium tempertures.

2 Mounting of temperature sensors
The temperture sensors used to mesure inlet nd outlet tempertures respectively re
mtched sensor pir tht must never be seprted.
Temperture sensors re usully mounted in MULTICAL® 6M2 from the fctory. According to EN
1434 or OIML R75 the cble lengths must not be chnged. If the cble lengths re chnged it might
result in mesurement error. If necessry, sensors must lwys be replced in pirs.
The sensor mrked with red sign is to be instlled in the inlet pipe. The other sensor mrked with
blue sign is to be instlled in the outlet pipe (see prgrph 6 for further informtion).
Note: The sensor cbles must not be pulled. Be wre of this in cse of binding the cbles.
2.1 Pocket temperature sensor pair
Preferbly, sensor pockets must be mounted in
tee-pieces or in 45° lterl Y-pieces. The tip of the
sensor pocket must be plced in the middle of the
flow.
The temperture sensors should rech the bottom
of the pockets. If short response time is required,
”non-hrdening” het conducting pste cn be
used.
Push the plstic sleeve on the sensor cble into
the sensor pocket nd secure the cble by mens
of the enclosed M4 seling screw. Fsten the
screw with your fingers only. Sel the pockets
using sel nd locking wire.

2.2 Short direct temperature sensor pair
The short direct sensors cn be mounted in specil bll vlves or
in specil tee-pipes, both with threds up to R1 nd built-in M10
union for the short direct sensor.
For mounting in existing instlltions with stndrd ngle tees
Kmstrup A/S cn, furthermore, supply R½ nd R¾ brss nipple
fittings for the short direct sensors.
Fsten the sensor’s brss unions lightly (pprox. 4 Nm) using
12 mm fce wrench nd sel the sensors with sel nd locking
wire.
2.3 Temperature sensor pair in cooling applications
Temperture sensors in cooling pplictions must be mounted
from below s shown in the figure.

3 Flow sensor
The MULTICAL 6M2 must be used in connection with flow prts comptible with mixed fluids. Flow
prts suitble for mixed fluids re e.g. mechnicl nd mgnetic inductive.
3.1 Mounting of flow sensor

D Acceptble in closed systems. Uncceptble
position in open systems due to risk of ir
build-up in the system.
E A flow sensor ought not to be plced immedi-
tely fter vlve, with the exception of block
vlves (bll vlve type) which must be fully
open when not used for blocking.
F A flow sensor should not be plced t the
suction side of pump.
G A flow sensor ought not to be plced fter

3.2 GWF flow sensor
GWF volume mesuring meters cn withstnd instlltions where ntifreeze gents re present.
The mesuring dynmics re, however, influenced depending on the concentrtion. With n nti-
freeze concentrtion:
1 Below 5 % there is no influence on the mesuring dynmics
2 At 30 % the qi vlue is doubled.
Note: The qi increses between 5-30 %. This degrdtion tkes plce proportionlly.
3 Above 30 % we do not recommend these meters.

3.2.1 Mounting of GWF flow sensor
Single jet meters (Unico®) cn be instlled
in horizontl or verticl pipelines. Horizontl
instlltion is preferred since it offers superior
mesuring dynmics.
Multi jet meters (MTH) cn only be instlled in
horizontl pipelines. The meter type plte must
lwys fce upwrds.
It is recommended to instll shut-off vlves
before nd fter the meter, to fcilitte the in-
stlltion nd removl of the meter for periodic
inspection nd mintennce work.
Py ttention to the direction of flow when in-
stlling the meter. An rrow on the meter body
indictes the direction of flow.
Note: The meter should be protected ginst mechnicl jolts or vibrtion, which could be present
in the instlltion.

4 Mounting of calculator
The MULTICAL® 6M2 clcultor cn be mounted in two different wys:
4.1 Separate/wall mounting
The wll fitting mkes it possible to mount
MULTICAL® 6M2 direct on n even wll. Use the
fitting s templte to mrk nd drill two 6 mm
holes in the wll.
Nturlly, wll mounting is idel when mounting
in condensing environments.

4.2 Panel mounting
MULTICAL® 6M2 cn be mounted direct in pnels nd control pnels, vi Kmstrup’s pnel mount-
ing kit, No. 66-99-104 (192 x 144 mm).

5 Fluid type
MULTICAL® 6M2 is comptible with the most commonly used ntifreeze liquids, e.g. ethylene gly-
col, propylene glycol, Tyfocor nd Antifrogen.
5.1 Fluid type code
The type of ntifreeze liquid nd the concen-
trtion re freely progrmmble nd thus
MULTICAL® 6M2 cn compenste for the unique
specific het cpcity in ech ppliction,
ensuring high ccurcy regrdless of the
chemicl composition or the ppliction.
The fluid type code is 4 digit code, which
sttes the fluid type nd concentrtion, for
which the clcultor is progrmmed. The
fluid type code cn be viewed in the clcul-
tor’s disply (reference number 71).
