The model 8125 isnew. Itfeatures rear discharge

with adiecastaluminumhousingand is agear

drivenself-propelledmower.Fig.

Itis a zone startmodelwiththeflywheelbrake

system.When the bail isreleased, both the engine

and blade will stop within the3-secondtime limit.

Anotherfeature is anadjustabledrivenpulley

which controls ground speed. It is located under

the pulley cover.

WARNING:

Disconnect the spark plug lead.

Remove two screws and lift cover off. Fig. 2.

With the engine operating at3200 rpm,the ground

speed can becontrolled tooperate at 2.4, 2.6, 2.8,

3.0

or 3.2 mph.

Loosen the nuton the idler pulley bracket which

will release the tension on the belt.Removethe nut

and thickwasher fromthe top of thedriven pulley.

When a spacer or spacers are not used, they are

storedontop

thepulley under thenutand

Withno spacersbetween thepulley halves, the

ground speed is 2.4 mphat 3200 rpm.Add

one

spacer

between thepulley halves, the speed in-

creases to 2.6 mph.

Twospacers

2.8 mph.

Three

spacers

3.0 mph.

After the groundspeed has been selected, assem-

ble the top half of the pulley onto the shaft. Fig.

Movethe idler brackettoapply tension on belt and

tighten idlerbracketnut.Fig. 10-A. Beltshould

deflectapproximately3/8”withfirmfinger

pressure. Fig. 10-B.Rotate engineseveral times to

seat belt ingrooves. Recheck belt tension andad-

just as necessary.

replacethebelt, remove thepulley cover.

Loosen the nut on the idler pulley bracket which

At this time, the belt can be rolled off the driven

pulley, or you can separate the pulleytoremove it.

A special beltis used todrive the transmission.It

was specially designed and manufactured foruse

only on this mower.

NOTE:

Useonly the belt available fromLawn-Boy

other

belt will function properly on this mower.

It isnecessary to remove the engine when replac-

ing the belt.

Remove the blade nut, blade and collar. Remove

three screws securing muffler and crankshaft sup-

port. Remove muffler.Fig. 13.

Primer, Part #384884. Apply OMC Ultra Lock, Part

#388517 to thethreads of the bolts andassemble

all four into the engine mounting holes.

Clean the threads ofthethree mufflerscrews with

LOCQuic Primer, Part #385884. Apply OMC Ultra

Lock, Part #388517 to the threads.

Assemble the muffler, crankshaft support (flange

down) and start the three screws.

in.Ibs. (11-15 ft. Ibs.) Slide crankshaft supportgauge, Part #609968 over

the crankshaft with the thin wall of gauge going

the blade nut has been on and off four times it

should be replaced.

belt should assemble over the driven pulley very

several times toseat beltingrooves. Recheck belt

tension and adjust as necessary.

After completing the belt replacement,start and

system.

To prevent dirt from entering insideof the wheel,

apply Lawn-Boy “A” grease in the groove of the

wheel cover. Fig. 30.

The transmissionassemblyisfilledwith “A”

grease at thefactory and should notrequire addi-

tional lubrication. However,

seepageof the lubri-

cant is noted coming fromaround the seals

from

the transmission housing gasketarea (Fig. 32-A),

greasecanbeaddedthroughthe zerk fitting

located on, the lower sideof the transmission. Fig.

Every

hours of operation the rear wheel bolts

should be lubricated. Removeand clean the wheel

bolt, liberallyoil the bearing and each felt washer

andreassemble.Fig. 31.
