SAFETY NOTES (9499 047 07101)
Following the enclosed safety instructions 9499 047 07101 is indispensable!
The insulation of the instrument conforms to EN61010-1 with pollution degree 2,
overvoltage category II, operation voltage 300V and protection class I.
ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (89/336/EWG)
The following European Generic Standards are met:
Emission: EN 50081-1 and Immunity: EN 50082-2
The unit can be used without restriction for residential and industrial areas.

EARTH TERMINAL (for grounding interferences)
If outside interferences voltage act on the instrument, functional troubles may be
caused (concerns also high-frequency interferences). For grounding interferences
and ensuring the electromagnetic immunity, an earth must be connected: Terminal 6,
20 and 21 must be connected to earth potential by means of a short cable
(approx.20cm,e.g. to switch cabinet ground). Keep this cable separate from mains
cables.

The Digital 380 indicator is provided for installation in an enclosure. The electrical
safety is reached by correct installation in a control cabinet/panel.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Keep mains cables separate from signal and measuring cables. We recommend
twisted and sceened measurung cables (screen connected to earth).
This ensures optimum interference suppression!
Connected final elements must be equipped with protective circuits to manufacturer
specification. This avoids voltage peaks which can cause trouble to the instrument.
The instruments must be protected by an individual or common fuse for a max.
power consumption of 8VA per unit (standard fuse ratings, min 1 A)!.
aSignal and measurement circuits may carry max. 50 V r.m.s. against
ground, mains circuits may carry max. 250 V r.m.s. between terminals

Channel selector inputs:
+Current inputs with channel selector
If e.g. a controller is connected in the same measurement loop, even
minimum pulses during channel selecting might cause controller reactions
due to the D action.
Therefore, external shunts (50 [) and voltage input U_3 (0,2...1V instead of
4...20 mA/0...1V instead of 0...20 mA) should be used. For connection, see
page 5.

The indicator must be protected via an external fuse. Connecting both
terminals 20,21 to protective earth is indispensable. The regulations
specified in the PTB certificate must be followed!

Select the channel the parameters of which must be set.
Two different adjustment procedures can be used:
1. Menu selection e.g.
The instantaneously selected / adjusted menu item is displayed. Press
keys Dand Ito select another item. Press key Mto confirm the
selection and to display the next menu.
2. Entry of a decimal value, e.g.
Symbol and value of a parameter are displayed alternately. Changing the value can be
done with keys Iand D. With some parameters, key Fcan be used to adjust the
decimal point. Press key Mto confirm the selection and to display the next menu.
Digital 380 is suitable for connection of thermocouples, Pt100, resistance
thermometers, resistances and current or voltage signals.
