Digital Surface Profile Probes / Convex Surface Profile Probes

1. Calibrate on a glass zero plate.

2. Ensure probe is 90° to substrate to ensure accurate readings.

3. Take a minimum of 10 readings over an area to establish the average surface profile.

How to measure surface profile with an elcometer 224

Surface Profile

Testex® Replica Tape

Testex Tape consists of foam with a non-compressible backing.

The foam side is rubbed into the surface providing a permanent mould of the peak-to-valley profile

Testex Tape is available in three profileranges.

There are 50 tests in each roll. Test Area Dimensions: 19 x 54mm (0.75 x 2.23”)

Part Number Metric Range

TESC Coarse 20 - 64μm

TESXC X-Coarse 38 - 115μm

TESXC PLUS X-Coarse Plus 116 - 147μm

TESGMET Testex Metric Dial Thickness Gauge ( microns)

PHCAL-GMET/7301 Calibration Certificate for Testex Dial Gauge

Thickness Gauge - GMET

The Mitutoyo Thickness Gauge is used to measure the peak-to-valley height

of a surface profilemoulded in the Testex Replica Tape.

• Metric only available

• Quick and easy to use

• Calibration Certificates available at extra cost

Dry Film Thickness -

Dry Film Thickness is probably the most critical measurement in the coatings industry. It provides

vital information as to the expected life of the substrate, the product’s fitness for purpose, its

appearanceand ensures compliance with a host of InternationalStandards.
