IMPORTANT! INSTALLATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT ONLY BY THOSE COMPETENT IN ELECTRICAL
INSTALLATION. ANY DAMAGES INCURRED DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION ARE NOT COVERED
UNDER WARRANTY.
Test….
To check the correct installation and operation of the Puddle, rapidly press the button 5 times. This will
simulate an alarm on all channels, flashing and beeping sequentially from 1 to 5. Pressing the button once
will silence the alarm, a second press will cancel the alarm and reset the controls. The Puddle will then
enter tracking mode when it recalibrates, this takes 4 minutes and is indicated by a yellow flashing LED
followed by single green to establish a new trip level after an alarm condition.
To check the correct installation of each water sensing device, wet tests should be conducted on all
channels in use. This involves ensuring water contamination to the tape/feet activates the alarm on all
channels, note all channels can be tested at the same time and does not require recalibration for each one.
Once all channels are tested clear the alarm.

Success?
Power is indicated by a single white flash and beep. The unit will then flash yellow for approximately 10
seconds as tracking/calibration is performed to establish a trip (moisture) level for each channel. Once
complete the unit will flash green and the Puddle is ready for action. The “ALARM OUT” terminal will also
open circuit on initial power up, in some instances it may close briefly first before opening which may
appear as a false alarm from DataCom/BMS if power is restarted to Puddle.
There are no lights or sounds while the Puddle is in operation mode.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THIS GUIDE CAREFULLY AND IN FULL BEFORE INSTALLING. KEEP
CLEAN: DO NOT LET WATER SENSING TAPE BECOME CONTAMINATED. STORAGE: KEEP IN A DRY
PLACE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION TO AVOID POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO INTERNAL COMPONENTS.

ATTENTION…..
The location of water sensing cable or any other water sensing device is critical to the effective operation of
this system. Great care should be taken to locate away from areas likely to suffer from normal dampness
and condensation, as this may trigger false alarms. Each water sensing device must be installed in a
usually dry area such as beneath the bath panel or plant room, depending on the application.
In addition, it is critical to ensure that any water sensing cable or tape is positioned at least 20cm away
from any mains cables. This distance MUST be observed, or the sensor channels may not operate
correctly.

Step by Step Installation….
1. Fix controls to chosen area. All system components should be sited internally in areas where they
are readily accessible by the person(s) designated to use them. Areas should be clean and dry, and
light and sound levels should allow the status of all device indicators and sounders to be seen and
heard. Any likelihood of tampering, vandalism and power disruption should also be considered.
2. Wire each water sensing device to each of the numbered channels on the Puddle controller. Leader
cable (connecting cable between the controls and sensing tape/cable) lengths are specified upon
quotation and made to measure. THIS IS PURPOSE-BUILT CABLE AND CANNOT BE
SUBSTITUTED/EXTENDED BY ANY OTHER CABLE. Sensing tape must be secured with bespoke
tape clips (provided), 1 per meter and 1 each end. Ensure to record the water sensing device and its
location using the location log opposite.
3. Where applicable, use 2 core flex cable to connect the BMS or hardwire a Waterguard DataCom to
the ALARM OUT terminal.
4. Connect power to the Puddle sensor using the 12V power pack or refer to the 240V adapter
instructions.
No setup required. Ensure to see the reverse to check successful installation.
