1 pH electrode and introduction
pHElectrode measurement principle is electrochemical method, galvanic cell principle. A
galvanic cell is a system that converts chemical energy into electrical energy. The voltage of this
battery is called the electromotive force (EMF). This electromotive force (EMF) consists of two
half-cells. One of the half-cells is called the measuring cell, and its potential is related to a specific
ionic activity; the other half-cell is the reference half-cell, usually called the reference electrode,
which is generally connected to the measuring solution and is connected to the measuring
instrument . The potential difference generated by the galvanic reaction inside the electrode is
transferred to thepHController, corresponding to algorithm transmission displaypHvalue.

2 Notes on using pH electrode
(1) electrode conventional lead is2core or4Core shielded wire, customers are prohibited from splicing the leads
without permission, and we are not responsible for the consequences.
(2) should avoid prolonged immersion in distilled water or protein solutions,
and prevent contact with silicone grease.
(3) For electrodes that have been used for a long time, its glass membrane may become transparent or have deposits
attached. At this time, it can be washed with dilute hydrochloric acid and rinsed with water.
(4) When you maintain and maintain the electrode, the calibration procedure and normal measurement still cannot be
performed, indicating that the electrode has not been able to restore the response, please replace the electrode.
(5)pHThe electrode wire is not waterproof, so try to avoid the electrode wire coming into contact with
water. (6) The life of the electrode is normally one year due to harsh environment or improper
maintenance will be shortened.

3 Use and maintenance of pH electrode
(1) There is an appropriate amount in the protective cover of the front section of the electrode3.3mol/LKCLsolution, in
which the electrode tip is immersed to maintain activation of the sensitive membrane and liquid junction.
(2) When using the electrode, the front transparent protective cover needs to be removed, and the glass bulb and the
liquid junction should be immersed in the solution for use.
(3) before installation, be sure to use a raw tape (3/4Threads) do a good job of
waterproof sealing to prevent water from enteringpHelectrode, causingpHElectrode
cable is shorted.
(4) measurement, should be washed in distilled water (or deionized water) first, and use filter paper to absorb moisture
to prevent impurities from entering the measured liquid, and the electrode sensitive membrane and liquid junction should be
completely immersed in the measured liquid.
(5) Check whether the terminal is dry. If it is stained, please wipe it with
anhydrous alcohol and use it after drying.
(6) It is recommended that the user regularly clean the sensitive membrane and liquid junction in front of the
electrode, and regularly calibrate with the instrument.
(7) The electrode should be washed when not in use, and inserted into the protective cover with saturated potassium
chloride solution.

5 Calibration of pH electrodes
(1) It is recommended to use the three-point method to calibrate the electrode, usually the firstpH4.00buffer determination
bits, and then use them in orderpH6.86andpH9.18of buffer to determine the slope.
(2) After the electrode is connected to the meter, please connect the meter to the power before performing the calibration work.

Place it vertically (please face the electrode sensitive film down) to prevent the electrodemVData deviation.
(4) For electrodes with temperature compensation, please switch the controller to automatic temperature compensation.
