LABORATORIES

The SIEMENS FS-TRI-M Contact Monitoring Module,

as shown in Figure 1, interfaces normally open contact

devices to an ddressable Device Circuit of a fire

alarm control unit.

The FS-TRI-M supports Style B (Class B) Initiating

Device Circuit wiring. Each module uses one address

on the ddressable Device Circuit. It does not require

any mechanical address programming. Use the FS-FPI

Programmer/Tester to program and test the module.

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION:

1. To prevent damage to the FS-FPI, do not

connect module to the FS-FPI until the

2. Only one device mu t be connected to the

FS-FPI at a time.

1. Connect the red and black wires of the FS-TRI-M

to the SIEMENS FS-FPI Programmer/Tester. Use

the cable provided with the Programmer/Tester

and the 2 alligator clips provided.

2. Set the address for the module by following the

instructions in the FS-FPI Programmer/Tester

Manual (P/N 315-699480).

3. Record the device address on the label located

on the module. The module can now be installed

and wired to the system.

MOUNTING

The FS-TRI-M mu t be in talled in a

UL Li ted electrical box.

Refer to Figure 2.

1. Connect the appropriate wires using wire nuts.

Tuck the FS-TRI-M module inside the electrical

box and dress the wiring as required.

2. Fasten the cover plate (user supplied) to the box.

NOTES:

1. ll circuits are power limited.

2. In supervisory:

FS-TRI-M draws 1.5m

3. Initiating Device Circuit ratings:

Style B, Class B

See NFP 72 standard for the number of normally open contact devices allowed.

Voltage (max.): 5 VDC (during polling)

Supervisory current (max.): 0.5m (during polling)

larm current (max.): 0.8m (during polling)

IDC cable requirements:

Wire size: 18 to 14 WG

Wire resistance (max.): 2 ohms

Cable length (max.): 200 feet

Cable Type: Data grade, twisted pair

4. If Earth Ground is available, the green wire should be connected to earth ground.

5. If Earth Ground is NOT available, the IDC wiring should be limited to the same room.
