3Getting Started
A. INSERT THE SD CARD
The purpose of the SD card is to store your recordings, the
TR600 will not work without an SD card.
To properly install the SD Card; insert it“upside down” with
the metal prongs facing up. Inserting it any other way will
cause damage & void the warranty.
1. Insert an SD card into the card slot on the side of the TR600;
you will feel a click when the card has been inserted correctly.
2. To remove the SD card, push the card in until you feel a spring
release; the SD card will be ejected when you let go.
NOTE - If no SD card is inserted, the TR600 will not power on; there will be
a loud beep & an SD card error.

B. INSERT AAA BATTERIES (NOT INCLUDED)
The TR600 typically runs o wall power, but can run o
batteries only. If power is lost, batteries help retain the time/
date. Remove back cover to insert the batteries.
C. NAVIGATING THE TR600
The image below labels the TR600 buttons; they are used to
perform various functions & navigate the menu.
NOTE - The Left/Right Select Buttons correspond to menu items in the
lower left/right of the screen. The Up/Down Button allows you to scroll
up or down to dierent menu options. The Back Button will always take
you back to the previous screen/menu

4Determine Your Phone Line
Conguration
Use this diagram to become familiar with the dierent types
of phone connection/cable types.
DIAGRAM
RJ9 (small)
This connection/cable is used
to hook a phone handset to a
phone base; the cable is typically
curly. (1 straight cable included
with the TR600)
RJ11(medium)
This is a common phone
connection/cable & is found in
most homes/buildings (in the
USA).
RJ45(large)
This cable/connection is
commonly known as an
Ethernet cable. It is typically
used to supply an Internet
connection to and from
modems/routers/computers.

Your phone line conguration will fall in one of three types;
listed below are the three types. Please carefully read the
three options below. Once you have determined which
type of phone conguration you have, please go to the
appropriate page of this manual to nish the set-up.
1. RJ11 Single Line (page 10)
This is by far the most common, most users will follow these
instructions. If you have a single line phone & an RJ11 cable
supplies phone service to your phone base, then go to page 10 of
this manual.
NOTE - The RJ11 cable will typically run from a standard phone wall jack,
modem/router, or from a “box” used by magic jack or other similar phone
service.
2. RJ11 Multi Line (page 14)
If you have a multi-line phone & an RJ11 cable(s) is supplying
phone service to your phone base, then go to page 14 of this
manual.
NOTE - Most users that have a multi-line phone know that this is the
set-up they have; they can typically toggle between separate phone calls
using buttons on their phone base.
3. RJ45 Into Phone Base (page 14)
If you have an IP phone & an RJ45 cable coming from your router/
modem/wall-jack into your phone base, then go to page 14 of
this manual.

5RJ11 Single Line Recording
This is the most common & easiest set-up process. Use these
instructions if you have a single line phone & an RJ11 cable
supplying phone service to your phone base.
Phone Service Source refers to the jack that the RJ11 cable
plugs into; it supplies service to your phone base. The most
common source is a standard phone wall jack, but it can
also be a small box if you use a service like Magic Jack OR a
modem/router if you get phone service from your Internet
provider.
A. HOOK UP THE TR600
1. Locate the RJ11 cable that is supplying phone service to your
phone base; unplug this cable from your phone service source &
plug it into the phone port on the back of the TR600.
2. Locate the RJ11 cable that came with your TR600 & plug one
end of it into your Phone Service Source. Plug the other end into
the Line port on the back of the TR600.
3. The set-up should look like the diagram on the next page.
