The Raritan PM is a Web-enabled Power Distribution Unit (PDU) with
the ability to display the current locally and remotely over Ethernet. The
meter consumes less than 5 Watts of power and has a +/-2% accuracy*.
Some units support outlet-level metering, while others only support
unit-level metering. Check the description of your model for details.
* Accuracy of +/-2% with Full Scale 60Hz sine wave input.

Safety Guidelines
To avoid potentially fatal shock hazard and possible damage to Raritan
equipment:
SYSTEMS SHOULD ONLY BE CONFIGURED BY A COMPETENT
PERSON.
IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THIS EQUIPMENT IS CONNECTED TO
AN ELECTRICAL SUPPLY THAT HAS A PROTECTIVE GROUND
CONDUCTOR
WARNING: TO ISOLATE THIS EQUIPMENT DISCONNECT
POWER SUPPLY PLUG.
ATTENTION: AFIN D'ISOLER TOTALEMENT CET APPAREIL
DEBRANCHER FICHE D'ALIMENTATION.
CAUTION: USE ONLY IN DRY LOCATIONS.
ATTENTION: UTILISER UNIQUEMENT DANS DES
EMPLACEMENTS SECS.
Do not use a 2-wire power cord in any product configuration.
Test AC outlets at your computer and monitor for proper polarity
and grounding.
Use only with grounded outlets at both the computer and monitor.
When using a backup UPS, power the computer, monitor and
appliance off the supply.
Chapter 1 Introduction

Safety Guidelines
ii
The installation socket outlet used for the power supply to this
equipment must be installed near the equipment and must be easily
accessible.
When installing this product, it is essential that the distribution
circuit supplying the product is protected by a branch circuit
protection device with a maximum rating to suit the product
maximum rating.
This power distribution unit is intended for power supply provision
to equipment only. Secondary (Satellite) power strips shall not be
connected to the receptacles
This product has been designed to conform to the latest safety
requirements. In addition to compliance with standards for general
use, it has been factory configured for use in rack mounting
environments aiding the installer to provide systems compliant with
relevant standards.
Provide an earthing connection before the mains plug is connected to
the mains. And, when disconnecting the earthing connection, be sure
to disconnect after pulling out the mains plug from the mains.

3
•If the PDU is installed in a cabinet the ambient temperature of the
rack should be no greater than 45 degrees C.
•Install the PDU such that airflow required for safe operation of
equipment is not compromised.
•Mount the PDU so that uneven mechanical loading does not cause a
hazardous condition.
•Follow nameplate ratings when connecting equipment to the branch
circuit. Take into consideration the effect that overloading of the
circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring.
•The PDU relies on the building installation for protection from
overcurrent. A Listed or Certified overcurrent protection device is
required in the building installation. The Overcurrent protection
device should be sized according to the PDU's nameplate ratings and
the local electrical code.
•Maintain reliable earthing of rack-mount equipment. Particular
attention should be given to supply connections other than direct
connections to the branch circuit.
•PDU is intended for Restricted Access Location. Only service
personnel should install and access the PDU.
•For pluggable equipment, install the PDU so the input plug may be
disconnected for service.
•Caution: Disconnect all power cords before servicing.

rack or cabinet (all Raritan PM vertical PDUs have standard spacing
of 61.25 in. and 64.75 in. center to center).
2. Fasten the button mounts to the back of the Raritan PM.
3. Align the buttons with the mounting holes in the rack or cabinet,
ensuring that both buttons can engage their mounting holes
simultaneously.
4. Press the Raritan PM forward through the mounting holes, and then
let the PDU drop about 5/8ths of an inch to complete installation.
Powering On
1. Plug the PDU into an appropriately rated and protected branch
circuit receptacle.
