INTRODUCTION
The61-686metermeasureslightfromxturesthatareequippedwithuores-
cent,metalhalide,high-pressuresodiumandincandescentlightsources.
The foot-candle unit is defined as the amount of illumination the inside
surfaceanimaginary1-footradiusspherewouldbereceivingiftherewerea
uniformpointsourceofonecandelaintheexactcenterofthesphere.Alterna-
tively,itcanbedenedastheilluminanceona1-squarefootsurfaceofwhich
thereisauniformlydistributeduxofonelumen.Thiscanbethoughtofas
theamountoflightthatactuallyfallsonagivensurface.Thefoot-candleis
equaltoonelumenpersquarefoot.
TheSIderivedunitofilluminanceisthelux.Onefoot-candleisequalto
approximately10.764lux,althoughinthelightingindustry,typicallythisis
approximatedas1footcandlebeingequalto10lux.

OPERATING THE METER
1. Pressthe““buttontoturnthepoweronoroff
2. Removethesensor’scapandplacethesensorintheareatobemeasured.
3. Press the LUX/FC button to select the desired units of measure. Fc is the
default.
4. Readthelightlevelonthedisplay.Ifthemeterisinautorangemodethe
readingwillappearautomaticallyonthedisplay.Ifthemeterisinmanual
rangemodeandthemeasurementisoutofrange,anOLwillappearinthe
display.PresstheMANUbuttontochangetherange.
5. TosavethecurrentvalueontheLCDpresstheDataHoldbutton.Press
theDataHoldbuttonagaintoresumenormalmeasuring.
6. Tocapturethemaximumreadingwhiletakingmeasurements,presstheMax
Holdbuttontocapturethemaximumvalue.PressmaxHoldbuttonagainto
resume normal measuring.
7. Iftheunitisidleforapproximately5minutes,itwillautomaticallypoweroff.
8. Aftertesting,replacethelightsensorcapandpressthepowerbuttontoturn
off the meter.
ZEROING THE METER
Turnthemeteronwiththesensorcapinplaceoverthelightsensor.Thevalue
shouldread000inanyrange.Ifthemeterdoesnotread000,pressthezero
buttontoautomaticallyzerothereading.

CLEANING AND STORAGE
1. Thewhiteplasticlightsensorshouldbecleanedwithadampclothwhen
neccessary.
2. Whenthemeterisnotinusekeepthelightsensorcoveredwiththelight
sensorcap.
3. Removethebatteryiftheunitisnotusedforanextendedperiodoftime.
4. Storethemeterinanareawithmoderatetemperatureandhumidity(refer
totheoperatingandstoragerangeinthespecicationschart)
