Description
The Greenlee 93-808 offers a versatile true RMS clamp-on meter that can
measure AC current, voltage, resistance and continuity. The built-in auto-ranging
function offers up-to-date capability as well as data hold and voltage readings.
Packing List
The following items should be packed with the clamp-on meter:
1 999 2188.0 Instruction Manual IM 1281
2 500 2280.6 Carrying Case
3 500 2096.0 Test Lead Set
4 — 9V Battery
Features (Figure 1)
(1) Digital Display — The digital display has a 3-3/4 digit LCD readout
(maximum reading 3999) plus auto polarity, decimal point, over-range
indication (“OL”), low battery indication, AC and unit icons.
(2) Input Terminals — The black test lead is always connected to the “COM”
input terminal and red test lead is always connected to the “V - Ω” input
terminal when measuring ACV and OHMS.
(3) Drop-Proof Wrist Strap — Prevents the meter from slipping off the hand
while in use.
(4) Function Switch — Slide switch to turn on meter and select V, A or
Ω, function.
(5) Data Hold Switch — Used to hold measured value for all functions.
(6) Trigger — Press the lever to open the jaws. When the pressure on the lever
is released, the jaws will close again.
(7) Jaws — Senses
the current
flowing through
the conductor
under test.
(8) Hand Guard —
Designed to
protect user.

Operation
AC Current Measurement
Electrical Shock Hazard.
Contact with live circuits will result in severe injury
or death.
1. Set the slide switch to the “A” position.
2. Press the trigger to open the jaws. Clamp around one conductor only.
Make sure that the jaws are firmly closed around the conductor.
3. Read the value from the digital display.

Electrical Shock Hazard.
Contact with live circuits will result in severe injury
or death.
1. Set the slide switch to the “V” position.
2. Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and the red test lead to the
V - Ωterminal.
3. Connect the test leads across the source load being measured.
4. Read the value from the digital display.

Resistance Measurement
Never connect a source of voltage with the Range Selector Switch in the
Ω(ohms) position. Personal injury or damage to the tester may result.
Failure to observe this warning can result in severe injury or death.
1. Turn off device to be tested. Discharge any capacitors. Voltage should not
present.
2. Slide switch to the Ωposition.
3. Connect the black test lead to the COM terminal and to red test lead to the
V - Ωterminal.
4. Connect test leads across the resistance being measured. The resistance value
will appear on the display.
Note: Resistance reading should always be taken in parallel with the circuit.
The built-in buzzer sounds if the resistance of the tested circuit is less than 100Ω.
