Before first use
Install flyWithCE Logbook
Download the latest version of flyWithCE Logbook application from flyWithCE web site
www.flywithce.com.
Run logSetupXXX.exe application and follow instructions (XXX represents flyWithCE Logbook
version).
Install USB driver
Make sure that you are connected to the Internet when you connect flyWithCE Flight
Recorder for the first time to your personal computer. Turn on the flight recorder. Windows
operating system will detect new device and automatically download and install USB device
driver.
Enter waypoints (airports) and tasks
In flyWithCE Logbook you can enter waypoints (airports) and tasks. First switch to appropriate
screen by pressing Waypoints and Tasks buttons in top right corner. Then press New button in
the bottom right corner to enter new waypoint or task.
You can also import waypoints and tasks by selecting Tools –Import Waypoints and Tasks
menu option. Following file formats are currently supported:
-SeeYou file format (CUP file extension)
-BGA waypoint file format (TXT file extension)
Note: You should enter airports where you will fly, because they will be then used during flight
declaration.
Note: For each airport define appropriate UTC offset. flyWithCE Logbook will then display
times in local times. If airport is not defined or UTC offset is not entered, then all times will be
displayed in UTC (there is letter Uafter each time).

Before flight
Enter flight declarations
To enter flight declarations follow this procedure:
1. Turn on flyWithCE Flight Recorder.
2. Connect device to USB port on your PC.
3. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
4. Run flyWithCE Logbook.
5. Check that there is Online status in the bottom left corner.
6. Press Connect button.
7. Press Declare button.
8. Enter Pilot, Plane, Airport and Task information.
9. Press Declare button to close the dialog.
Important: Make sure that you are connected to the Internet when you are entering flight
declarations. flyWithCE Logbook will update flight declaration information on flyWithCE server.
This declaration will be then used for signed flights.
Prepare device for next flight
Before each flight please:
1. Make sure that there is enough room in the flyWithCE Flight Recorder memory for
next flight. To check how much time is left open Options dialog by selecting File –
Options menu option. Time is displayed on Recorder tab in the Flight recorder
memory section. If there is not enough space press Erase button, which will delete
the contents of the flyWithCE Flight Recorder memory.
2. Fully charge flyWithCE Flight Recorder battery by turning off the device and
connecting device to USB port (PC or AC charger). During charging green LED will be
turned on. Device is fully charged when green LED is turned off.

During flight
Please follow procedure:
1. Turn on the flyWithCE Flight Recorder.
2. Position device so that the button is turned up and that device has clear view of the
skies.
3. Check device status:
a. Blue LED is on: decide is acquiring GPS position.
b. Blue LED is flashing: GPS position acquired and device is recording.
4. As soon as the blue LED is flashing you can take off.
5. Press button to record pilot event, which will be then also be recorded in IGC file.
After the button is pressed blue LED will blink quickly few times.
Important: Improper position of the device could impair GPS signal reception. This may result
in flights not being recorded correctly.
Note: If you will take several flights in one day, then please turn off the device for one minute
after each flight. flyWithCE Logbook can detect individual flights, but switching off the device
will ensure that the flights are correctly saved in separate IGC files.

After flight
Download flights
To download flights please follow this procedure:
1. Turn on flyWithCE Flight Recorder.
2. Connect device to USB port on your PC.
3. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
4. Run flyWithCE Logbook.
5. Check that there is Online status in the bottom left corner.
6. Press Connect button.
7. flyWithCE Logbook will download and sign new flights.
Important: Make sure that you are connected to the Internet when you are downloading
flights. flyWithCE Logbook will download and automatically sign flights using flyWithCE server.
If you are not connected to the Internet flights will be downloaded, but they will not be signed.
Important: You have to sign IGC files if you would like to use them for OLC or if you would like
to claim FAI silver or gold badges. To see if flight is signed please check Signed column in the
Flight log.
Download and sign flights at later time
Flights can be downloaded again at later time. If you are connected to the Internet flyWithCE
Logbook will automatically sign flights. This is the procedure:
1. Turn on flyWithCE Flight Recorder.
2. Connect device to USB port on your PC.
3. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
4. Run flyWithCE Logbook.
5. Check that there is Online status in the bottom left corner.
6. Press Connect button.
7. Select flight that you would like to download.
8. Press Download button.
9. Flight will be downloaded and signed.
