ADA POWERPLUG-5
Please take the time to read this manual because it will show you how to get maximum performance
from the A/DA PowerPlug-5 (and it may also give you some ideas on how to improve your sound by
experimenting with different sound modifier combinations).
First check to make sure you received everything you're supposed to:
1 PowerPlug-5
5 18 inch stereo cords
4 18 inch mono cords
10 shorting 9 volt battery clips
1 warranty card {with serial number that matches number on PowerPlug-5)
1 PowerPlug-5 User's Manual
The A/DA PowerPlug-5 is the only universal battery eliminator that is compatible with almost all 9-volt
battery operated sound modifiers or effects and pre-amps. The PowerPlug-5 is compatible with
devices that have an external power jack as well as devices that have no means of running off A.C.
adapters or converters, because the power is brought into the sound modifier via its input jack.
Also two A.C. outlets are available on the back panel of the PowerPlug-5 for A.C. powered effects.
The advantages of using the PowerPlug-5 for your effects board, besides avoiding battery failure and
the hassle of changing batteries, are numerous.
• No special modifications to any device (which may void its warranty), such as installing power
jacks or transformers, are necessary.
• One PowerPlug-5 takes the place of the many different battery eliminators with their various
power ratings and connectors that are only suited for the specific device that they were
designed for.
• Eliminates ground loops that may cause hum and noise to get into the audio signal.
• You may leave your devices hooked-up at all times - and not worry about running down the
batteries.
• The fused power supply protects your devices from line fluctuations. t Grounded A.C. line cord
for safety.
• Short circuit proof input and output terminals,
• Front panel LED lets you know that there is power to your effects.
WARNING!
The two rear panel A.C. receptacles are for signal processors and other low wattage devices. Do not
plug power amplifiers or mixing boards into the rear panel receptacles. They draw too much current
and will blow the fuse inside the PowerPlug-5. The maximum current the PowerPlug-5 will provide is
1/2 amp or 60 watts for the two rear panel receptacles combined.
REPLACING FUSE
To replace a blown fuse or to check the fuse, first unplug the PowerPlug-5 from the wall outlet. Take
off top cover by removing the two screws on the bottom of the chassis. If the fuse near the rear panel
is blown you may either use the spare fuse located near the front panel or replace it with a 1/3 amp to
1/2 amp 120-volt fuse. Before plugging the PowerPlug-5 back into the wall outlet to test it, replace
cover and remove all cords that interconnect your effects to the PowerPlug-5 and all effects that plug
into the rear A.C. outlets. If the LED lights up, then one-by-one plug each effect back into the
PowerPlug-5. If the LED goes out and the new fuse blows then either the last effect plugged in is
defective or it draws too much current for the operation. (This is especially true for A.C. powered
effects that are connected to the rear panel of the PowerPlug-5.)
