Memory Installation Update
This document updates information contained in your Dell PowerEdge system documentation.
Updating the System BIOS Before Installing
Additional Memory
Before you install the memory in this upgrade kit, you must update the basic input/output system
(BIOS) installed on your system to version A05 or later. Your system will not boot properly if this mem-
ory is used with an earlier version of the system BIOS.
To update the system BIOS, download the latest version from the Dell PowerEdge 6400 or
PowerEdge 6450 file download page at http://support.dell.com.
For information on installing the additional memory, see “Installing System Board Options” in your
system’s Installation and Troubleshooting Guide.

Mise à jour du BIOS du système avant l’installation
de la mémoire supplémentaire
Avant de procéder à l’installation de la mémoire contenue dans ce kit d’extension, vous devez mettre
à jour votre BIOS (basic input/output system [système d’entrées/sorties de base]) vers la version A05,
ou plus récente. Votre système ne pourra pas effectuer correctement la séquence de démarrage si la
mémoire est utilisée avec une version du BIOS du système précédente.
Pour mettre à jour le BIOS du système, téléchargez la version la plus récente depuis la page de
téléchargement des fichiers Dell PowerEdge 6400 ou PowerEdge 6450 à l’adresse
http://support.dell.com.
Pour obtenir des informations sur l’installation de la mémoire supplémentaire, reportez-vous à la
section « Installation des options de carte système » de votre Guide d’installation et de dépannage.

Aufrüsten des System-BIOS vor der Installation
einer Speichererweiterung
Bevor Sie die in diesem Aufrüstbausatz enthaltene Speichererweiterung installieren, müssen Sie das
auf Ihrem System installierte BIOS (basic input/output system [grundlegendes Eingabe-
Ausgabe-System)] auf Version A05 oder höher aufrüsten. Wenn dieser Speicher mit einer älteren
Version des System-BIOS verwendet wird, kann das System nicht ordnungsgemäß gestartet werden.
Zum Aufrüsten des System-BIOS laden Sie die jeweils aktuellste Version von der Datei-

Este documento actualiza información contenida en la documentación del sistema Dell PowerEdge.
Actualización del BIOS del sistema antes de
instalar memoria adicional
Antes de instalar la memoria de este paquete de actualización, debe actualizar el BIOS (basic input/
output system [sistema básico de entrada y salida]) instalado en su sistema a la versión A05 o poste-
rior. El sistema no se iniciará correctamente si se usa esta memoria con una versión anterior del BIOS
del sistema.
Para actualizar el BIOS del sistema, descargue la última versión de la página de descarga de
Dell PowerEdge 6400 o PowerEdge 6450 en http://support.dell.com.
