1.1 Intended use
Baelz373-E45motorizedlinearactuatorsarecontrolledbythree-pointcontrolorconstant
controlincombinationthedigitalpositionerbaelz7020A.Thelinearactuatorsoftheseries
describedinthisdocumentareintendedforthestrokeadjustmentofvalves.
Toensuretheirintendeduse,makesurethattheabovetypeidenticationcomplieswith
thenameplateofthelinearactuatorsbeforestartinganyactivities.Theactualtechnical
specicationsofthelinearactuatorsandthepowersupplyrequirementsarethespecications
indicatedonthenameplate.
Anyuseotherthantheintendedusementionedabove,differenttasks,andoperationwithother
powersourcesthanthosepermitted,isconsideredtobeimproperuse.Incaseofimproper
use,theoperatorshallbesolelyliablefortheriskpresentedtopersonsandthedeviceaswell
as other property!
IntendedusealsoincludescompliancewithaccidentpreventionandDINVDEregulationsas
wellassafeworkingpracticesforallmeasuresdescribedintheseoperatinginstructions,taking

1.2 Instructions for the operator
Alwayskeeptheoperatinginstructionsavailableattheplacewheretheactuatorisused!
Duringinstallation,operationandmaintenance,observetheapplicableoccupationalsafety,
accidentpreventionandDINVDEregulations.Ifnecessary,observeadditionalregional,local
orinternalsafetyregulations.
Makesurethateverypersonentrustedwithoneofthemeasuresdescribedintheseoperating
instructionshasreadandunderstoodtheseinstructions.

1.3 Personnel
Onlyqualiedpersonnelmayworkonthislinearactuatororinitsvicinity.Qualiedpersons
aredeemedtobepersonswhoarefamiliarwiththeinstallation,assembly,commissioningand
operationormaintenanceoftheactuatorsandhavetheappropriatequalicationsfortheirjob.
Necessaryorprescribedqualicationsinclude,butarenotlimitedto:
● Training/instructionandtheauthorizationtoswitchelectriccircuitsanddevices/
systemsonandoffinaccordancewithEN60204(DINVDE0100/0113)andthe
technicalsafetystandards
● Trainingorinstructioninthecareanduseofappropriatesafetyandworkprotection
equipmentinaccordancewithsafetytechnologystandards.
● Firstaidtraining.
Workinasafemannerandavoidanyoperationthatwouldendangerthesafetyofpersonsor
damagethelinearactuatororotherpropertyinanyway.
1.4 Before starting work
Beforecarryingoutanywork,checkwhetherthetypesspeciedherecorrespondtothe
informationonthenameplateoftheactuator:

1.5 During operation
Safeoperationisonlypossibleiftransport,storage,assembly,operationandmaintenanceis
carriedoutinasafe,properandprofessionalmanner.
1.5.1 Transport, installation and assembly
Observethegeneralinstallationandsafetyregulationsforheating,ventilation,airconditioning
andpipingsystems.Usetoolsonlyfortheirintendedpurpose.Weartherequiredpersonaland
otherprotectiveequipment.
1.5.2 Maintenance and repair
Priortomaintenanceorrepair,makesurethatthelinearactuatorisdisconnectedfrompower
byqualiedpersonnelinaccordancewithDINVDEstandards.Thelinearactuatorrequires
littlemaintenance.Werecommendlubricationofthegearwithgrease(KlüberMicrolubeGL
261)every6monthsandsimultaneousremovalofanydepositsonthespindle.Thisrequires
removaloftheactuatorcover.Apartfromthis,theactuatordoesnotrequireanyotherroutine
orperiodicmaintenance.

Thebaelz373-E45isamotorizedlinearactuatorwithload-dependentlimitswitchesforow
controlapplications.Theactuatorsaredesignedforhighlyaccuratepositioninginanindustrial
environment.Theycomecompletewithamanualadjustmentdeviceandawiderangeof
optionsandadditionalextrasareavailable.
Eachactuatorhasanameplateshowingspecicationsregardingthemaximumoperating
conditionsofthedeviceandaunique,order-relatedserialnumber(Fno.).

2.5 Operating conditions
Incaseofextremevariationsinambienttemperatureandhighhumiditylevels,installationofa
heatingresistorisrecommendedtominimisecondensationintheactuator.
Actuatorcoverswithsuppressionofthermalbridges(dualcovers)arerecommended.

4. ASSEMBLY
Make sure that the specications on the nameplate correspond to those in
the order documents!
4.1 Fitting position
Whenttingwiththeconnectingrodinhorizontalposition,tthelinearactuatorsuchthatthe
sidesoftheyokearepositionedoneabovetheotherintheverticalplane.
Risk of damage if no valve is tted to actuator!
Caution
Caution:
● Ifthelinearactuatorisoperatedwithoutavalve,themissingstopmaycausedamage
totheactuator.Theactuatormustthereforenever be operated without a valve.
● Allowforabout200mmspaceabovethecoveratthesiteofinstallation.
● Checktheworkenvironmentbeforettingtheactuatorandputtingitintooperation:
● Makesurethatthevalveiscorrectlyinstalled.Fordetailedinformation,refertothe
valve'sinstallationinstructions.
● Determinethemountingpositionofthelinearactuator.Donotmountlinearactuators
"headdown"belowthevalve.

4.2 Assembly with the valve
Priortoassembly,checkthat:
● theoperatingconditionscomplytothespecicationsofthelinearactuator.
● thevalveiscomplete(yokeonactuatororonvalve).
● theconnectionsonvalveandactuatormatch.
Thelinearactuatorissuppliedwiththespindleretracted.
Aslightadjustmentforttingofthecouplingcanbecarriedoutbyturningthespindle.The
followingdimensionsmustbeadheredto,otherwisedamagetotheactuatorcanensue.

Ensurethattheconnectingrodoftheactuatorandthevalvespindlearecorrectlyaligned.
Misalignmentcanleadtopowerlossandprematurewear.
Whensuppliedwithintegratedpotentiometerassembly,adjustmentoftheassemblymaybe
necessary.
Keep the spindle within the given
stroke range to avoid damage to the
actuator!

4.3 Principle of operation

andprocesstechnology.Theself-lockingthreadedspindle/spindlenutisdrivenbyanelectric
motorviaagearbox.Thisconvertstherotarymovementintoalinearmovement.Load-
dependentlimitswitchesdictatetheendpositions
4.3.1 Manual adjustment
Manualadjustmentmayonlybecarriedoutwhenthemotorisnotinmotion.Forthe
adjustment,unscrewthecapnutfromthetopofthecover,removethehandcrankfromthe
bracketonthebottomoftheactuatorhousingandinsertitintothetubeinthetopofthecover.
Turnthecrankhandleusinggentlepressure.
