Membrane Switch Sub-Assembly Replacement
1Introduction
This information sheet describes the procedure for replacing the
SM3000 instrument's Membrane Switch sub-assembly, which
is an integral part of the Display Molding.
The Membrane Switch Sub-assembly Pack, GR2000/3710,
includes the following items:

Withdraw the instrument
from the case
Remove tamper-proof
seal, if fitted
Unscrew the jacking screw
securing the instrument to
the case

Information. Refitting is the
reverse of removal.
2Tools Required
•Medium flat-bladed screwdriver
•No.2 Pozidriv screwdriver
•Small-bladed screwdriver or pointed instrument

Caution. The instrument is vulnerable to
electrostatic damage. Wear an anti-static strap or dismantle
the unit on an anti-static workbench.
1) Isolate the instrument from the power supply.
2) Remove the instrument from its case – see Fig. 3.1.

3) Stand the instrument on a protective surface to prevent damage to the exterior finish and screen.
4) Remove the chassis from the display molding – see Fig. 3.2.

Lay instrument face
down on a protective
surface and remove
chassis securing
screws

Disengage lugs
from slots at top
of chassis and lift
chassis clear
of molding

Information. Refitting is the reverse of removal.

6) Fit the items removed at step 5) to the new display molding
– see Fig. 3.3.
7) Refit the chassis to the display molding – see Fig. 3.2.
8) Refit the instrument to the case – see Fig. 3.1.
9) Restore the power supply to the instrument.

Note. When fitting the jacking screw,
ensure one nylon spacer is fitted below the
screw head and another below the circlip.
