Location Requirements

You will need

■A location that allows for proper exhaust installation. See

“Venting Requirements.”

■A separate 15 or 20 amp circuit.

■A grounded electrical outlet located within 5 ft. (152.4 cm) of

the drying cabinet. The drying cabinet has a 5 ft. (152.4 cm)

cord located on the top of the cabinet. Locate the power

outlet close enough to the top of the drying cabinet for the

plug to reach the outlet without using an extension cord. The

outlet should be easily accessible after the drying cabinet

installation. Adjust the outlet location if the drying cabinet is

installed inside custom cabinetry. See “Electrical

Requirements.”

■A sturdy floor to support the total drying cabinet weight of

123 lbs (55.8 kg).

■A level floor with a maximum slope of 1 in. (2.5 cm) under the

entire drying cabinet.

■Ceiling must be a minimum of 12 in. (30.5 cm) from the top of

the cabinetry (see “Installation clearances”) or from the top of

the heavy metal vent if not installed in cabinetry.

■The drying cabinet is designed for operation indoors in a dry

environment at a temperature above 32ºF (0ºC).

■Check code requirements. Contact your local building

inspector.

Installation clearances

The location must be large enough to allow the drying cabinet

door to be opened fully.

Drying Cabinet Door Swing Dimensions

Minimum installation spacing for custom cabinetry or trim

kit installation

The dimensions shown following are for the minimum spacing

allowed.

■Additional spacing should be considered for ease of

installation and servicing.

■Additional clearances might be required for wall, door and

floor moldings.

■For built-in installation, minimum ventilation openings in the

top are required.

Electrical Requirements

It is your responsibility

■To contact a qualified electrical installer if an electrical outlet

is not currently available.

■To be sure that the electrical connection is adequate and in

conformance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA

70-latest edition and all local codes and ordinances.

Electrical Connection

To properly install your drying cabinet, you must determine the

type of electrical connection you will be using and follow the

instructions provided for it here.

■The drying cabinet should be connected to a 120 V 60 Hz

3 prong grounded outlet.

■The drying cabinet is ready for connection with a 5 ft.

(152.4 cm) long cable with a grounded plug. Use only the

supplied cable and plug.

■The outlet should be located for easy plug removal.

If using a replacement power supply cord, it is recommended

that you use Power Supply Cord Replacement Part Number

8181928. For further information, please call the Customer

WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard

Venting Requirements

■The drying cabinet should not be vented into a chimney, wall,

attic, ceiling or concealed space of a building.

■The drying cabinet should vent into the room where the

drying cabinet is installed or into an adjacent room.

■Opening a door or window in the room where the drying

cabinet is installed is suggested for ventilation.

■4 in. (10.2 cm) heavy metal vent and clamps must be used.

Metal vent should not exceed 3 ft. (91.4 cm) in length.

■If vented into the room where the drying cabinet is installed, a

minimum spacing of 12 in. (30.5 cm) from the metal vent to

the ceiling is suggested.

■The drying cabinet must vent outside of the enclosure in

which it is installed.

■Do not use an exhaust vent hood on the drying cabinet vent.

■If custom cabinetry is built to enclose the top of the drying

cabinet, leave the venting area open to allow for airflow.

For a grounded, cord-connected drying cabinet:

This drying cabinet must be grounded.In the event of

malfunction or breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of

electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for

electric current.This drying cabinet is equipped with a cord

having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding

plug.The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that

is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all

local codes and ordinances.

WARNING:

Improper connection of the equipment-

grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock.

Check with a qualified electrician or service representative or

personnel if you are in doubt as to whether the drying cabinet

is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with

the drying cabinet: if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper

outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Unpack Drying Cabinet

■To prevent floor damage, set the drying cabinet onto the

cardboard prior to installation.

Install and Level Drying Cabinet

The drying cabinet may be installed with a panel trim kit or inside

custom cabinetry.

Move drying cabinet into position

1. Decide on the final location for the drying cabinet. Locate

existing wiring and plumbing to prevent drilling into or

severing wiring or plumbing during installation.

2. Keep the door taped closed until the drying cabinet is in its

final location.

3. As you slide the drying cabinet in so that it is flush and

centered with the cabinetry facing, route the power cord to

the 3 prong grounded outlet to avoid pinching the power

cord.

4. Remove tape and open the drying cabinet door. Slide out the

upper rack. Measure and note the distance from the drying

cabinet to the back panel or wall as shown.

5. Using a pencil, mark the location of the mounting holes on

the wall or back panel of the custom cabinetry. This will show

you the placement of the wood shim.

6. Slide the upper rack back and close the door. Keep the door

taped closed while it is being moved. Slide the drying cabinet

out.

7. Use a wood shim the thickness of the distance measured in

Step 4. The width of the shim cannot exceed 22 in. (55.9 cm)

or be less than 18 in. (45.7 cm). Attach the shim with the

appropriate length screws as shown.

NOTE: When attaching the shim, check to be sure that the

shim is attached solidly to the wall or custom cabinetry and

that the screws do not obstruct the drying cabinet mounting

holes.

8. Slide the drying cabinet back into its final location. Remove

the door tape. Check to be sure that the shim is against the

back of the drying cabinet. If it is installed inside the custom

cabinetry, check that the front edge of the drying cabinet is

flush with the front of the custom cabinetry.

Level drying cabinet

1. Check the level of the drying cabinet first side to side, then

front to back.

2. To adjust the level, use the Allen wrench provided and turn

the leveling legs through the holes in the floor of the drying

cabinet. (Pliers may be used to turn the Allen wrench, if

needed.)

Attach drying cabinet to wall

1. Slide out the upper rack and mark the center of the mounting

holes on the wood shim.

2. Through the mounting holes in the back of the drying cabinet,

drill ¹⁄₈ in. pilot holes in the wood shim.

3. Attach the drying cabinet to the shim with #10 screws and

washers provided.

Final installation

1. Check to be sure the drying cabinet is still level and that the

door opens and closes easily.

NOTE: If the door does not close properly, recheck the level

of the drying cabinet and/or whether it is securely attached to

the wall.

2. Place the plastic hole plugs into the base of the drying

cabinet over the leveling screws, tapping gently with a

hammer, if necessary.

Connect Vent

NOTE: If installing in the custom cabinetry, attach the adapter

through the top hole of venting area in the custom cabinetry after

the drying cabinet is in its final location.

1. Attach the adapter by using a sliding and twisting motion until

it is under all tabs on the top of the drying cabinet vent

opening as shown.

2. Connect the 4 in. (10.2 cm) heavy metal exhaust vent (not

included) to the adapter section.

Reverse Door Swing

You can change your door swing from a right-side opening to a

left-side opening, if desired.

1. Using an adjustable wrench, remove the hinge pin and

washer from the bottom hinge.

2. To remove the door, lift up and swing the bottom of the door

out while sliding it off the top hinge pin.

3. Remove the door hinge hole plug and move it to the opposite

side.

4. Unscrew the hinge pin from the top hinge using a flat-blade

screwdriver and install it on the opposite side.

Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.

5. Rotate the door and install it on the opposite side. Check to

see that the magnetic door seal is on the opposite side from

the hinges.

6. Replace the washer and bottom hinge pin.

Install Door Slider Kit

Assemble the required tools and parts before starting installation.

Read and follow the instructions provided with any tools listed

here.

■Panel trim kit (part numbers 4396494-white, 4396499-

biscuit). Refer to the “Assistance or Service”section of the

Use and Care Guide for accessory information.

Install door slider kit

NOTE: The slider and bracket unit may be installed without

removing the drying cabinet door. If you wish, you may remove

the drying cabinet door for the installation of the slider and

bracket unit. Place on a flat surface, front facing up. See

“Reverse Door Swing.”

1. Using the slider and bracket unit as a template, mark the

screw hole locations 1 in. down from the top of the drying

cabinet door. Measure 1 in. up from the bottom of the door

and mark the screw hole locations. Mark the screw hole

locations for the center slider and bracket unit.

2. Put the slider and bracket unit aside. Center punch the screw

hole locations.

3. Drill ¹⁄₈ in. holes.

NOTE: Using a smaller drill bit to drill a pilot hole for ¹⁄₈ in. drill

bit may make drilling easier.

4. Using ³⁄₈ in. sheet metal screws, attach the top, bottom and

middle slider and bracket units to the drying cabinet door.

5. If you have removed the door, replace it now. See “Reverse

Door Swing.”

6. Close the drying cabinet and custom cabinetry door. On the

custom cabinetry door facing, mark in pencil the outside

edge of the custom cabinetry door.

7. Measure the distance from the inside edge of the custom

cabinetry door facing to the pencil mark as shown.

8. With the drying cabinet door open against the custom

cabinetry door, measure from the outside edge of the custom

cabinetry door using the distance found in step 7 and adding

⁵⁄₈ in. as shown. Attach slider to custom cabinetry door with

⁵⁄₈ in. Phillips-head wood screws provided. Drill appropriate

size holes for the screws in the custom cabinetry door,

checking to make sure the holes or screws do not go all the

way through the custom cabinetry door.

9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 with each of the 2 remaining slider and

bracket units.

Complete Installation

1. Check to be sure all parts are now installed. If there is an

extra part, go back through the steps to see which step was

skipped.

2. Check to be sure you have all of your tools.

3. Dispose of all packaging materials.

4. Use a mild solution of liquid household cleaner and warm

water to remove waxy residue caused by the protective

shipping material. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. For more

information, see “Drying Cabinet Care”in the

Use and Care Guide.

5. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet. Turn power on.

6. Read “Drying Cabinet Use”in the Use and Care Guide.

7. Set the drying cabinet on a full heat cycle (not an air cycle) for

20 minutes and start the drying cabinet.

If the drying cabinet will not start, check the following:

■Controls are set in a running or “On”position.

■Start button has been pushed firmly.

■Drying cabinet is plugged into a grounded 3 prong outlet.

■Electrical supply is connected.

■House fuse is intact and tight; or the circuit breaker has

not tripped.

■Drying cabinet door is closed.

8. When the drying cabinet has been running for 5 minutes,

open the drying cabinet door and feel for heat.

NOTE: If drying cabinet fails to heat after setting knobs to high

settings, but the fan runs, turn the TIME control knob to “0”and

wait 30 minutes. If it does not heat after restarting, see

“Assistance or Service”in the Use and Care Guide.

Emplacement d'installation

■Un emplacement avec un conduit d'évacuation àproximité.

Voir “Exigences concernant l'évacuation”.

■Un circuit séparéde 15 ou 20 ampères.

■Une prise électrique reliée àla terre située àmoins de 5 pi

(152,4 cm) de l'armoire sécheuse. L'armoire sécheuse

comporte un cordon de 5 pi (152,4 cm) situésur le dessus de

l'armoire. Localiser la prise électrique assez près du dessus

de l'armoire sécheuse pour que la fiche atteigne la prise sans

rallonge. La prise doit être d'accès facile une fois l'armoire

sécheuse installée. Ajuster l'emplacement de la prise de

courant si l'armoire sécheuse est installée dans un placard

personnalisé. Voir “Spécifications électriques”.

■Un plancher robuste capable de soutenir le poids total de

l'armoire sécheuse de 55,8 kg (123 lb).

■Un plancher de niveau ayant une pente maximale de 1 po

(2,5 cm) sous l'ensemble de l'armoire sécheuse.

■Le plafond doit être àau moins 12 po (30,5 cm) du dessus du

meuble (voir “Espacements d'installation”) ou au-dessus de

l'évent métallique rigide si celui-ci n'est pas àl'intérieur du

meuble.

■L'armoire sécheuse est conçue pour fonctionner àl'intérieur

dans un environnement sec àune température supérieure à

32ºF (0ºC).

■Vérifier les exigences de codes. Communiquer avec

l'inspecteur des bâtiments local.
