Introducing the USB SoundWave 5.1 Pro

The USB SoundWave 5.1 Pro brings you cinema-quality 5.1-channel

sound effects. With Built-in Q-SPACETM intelligent 5.1-channel

surround sound system, it turns 2-channel audio into multi-channel

sound.

player/encoder) software

• Delivers cinema-quality 5.1 surround sound to all Microsoft

DirectSound and DirectSound3D enabled games

System Requirements

• Pentium II 366 MHz (or equivalent) desktop or notebook

computer with an available USB 1.1/2.0 port

• 32 MB system memory or above

• 100 MB available hard disk space or above

• Speakers (5.1-channel speaker system recommended)

Buttons:

• MUTE: Press this button to enable/disable sound

• SUR: Press this button to enable/disable 5.1-channel surround

sound

• MIC: Press this button to enhance microphone output signal if

needed

LEDs:

• PWR: LED ON indicates normal operation; LED FLASHING

indicates unit is in Mute mode; LED OFF indicates unit is

unplugged from the USB port.

• SUR: LED ON indicates 5.1-channel surround sound is

enabled; LED OFF indicates surround sound is disabled

Note: The SUR LED will not be lit when software encoded audio

surround sound is played.

• MIC: LED ON indicates the microphone enhanced mode is

enabled; LED OFF indicates microphone enhanced mode is not

used.

• C/LFE: Orange connector for Center/Subwoofer speakers.

General design of 5.1 speakers for PC is plugging center

speaker cable to subwoofer, then plugging subwoofer cable to

the C/LFE connector. However, if your center speaker and

subwoofer must be individually plugged, buy a two-to-one

converter and plug it into C/LFE jack.

• Rear: Black connector for Rear Right and Rear Left speakers.

• Front: Green connector for Front Right and Front Left

speakers. This connector can also be used to connect

headphones.

• MIC/Line: Blue connector for Microphone or Line-in devices

such as MP3 players, radio sets, CD/DVD players and many

more.

• USB Connector: Connect one end of the provided USB cable

to the SoundWave 5.1 Pro and the other end to a USB port on

your desktop or laptop computer.

Hardware Installation

Connect your speaker system plus any other input devices to the

USB SoundWave 5.1 Pro. Please refer back to the Layout section for

connection information if needed.

After making all speaker/device connections, plug one end of the

provided USB cable into the USB SoundWave 5.1 Pro's USB

connector, then plug the other end into your system's USB port.

Software Installation

This section provides information on how to install the

USB SoundWave 5.1 Pro's drivers and the provided software.

Windows 98SE:

1. At the Add New Hardware Wizard window, click Next.

2. Select Search for the best driver for your device

(Recommend), then click Next.

3. Insert your Windows 98SE Installation CD, select CD-ROM

drive, uncheck the other boxes, then click Next.

4. Click Next, Next, then Finish.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 to install the USB audio device.

6. Remove the Windows 98SE Installation CD and restart

Windows to complete installation.

Windows ME:

1. At the Add New Hardware Wizard, insert your Windows ME

Installation CD. Select Automatic search for a better driver

and click Next.

2. Click Finish.

3. Remove the Windows ME Installation CD and restart

Windows to complete installation.

Windows 2000/XP Installation

Windows 2000/XP will automatically detect and install the correct

drivers for the USB SoundWave 5.1 Pro.

To verify successful installation:

1. Check Device Manager to verify successful driver installation.

Windows 98SE/ME: From the main desktop, right click My

Computer, click Properties,then click Device Manager.

Windows 2000/XP: Right click My Computer, click Manage,

then click Device Manager.

2. Double click Sound, video and Game controllers and USB

Audio Device should be displayed.

3. Double click Universal Serial Bus controllers and USB

Composite Device should be displayed.

Software Utilities

The bundled CD contains three software: WinDVD, WinRip, and

Speaker Tester. You can install above applications as needed.

Please note that the software's serial numbers are located on top of

the software CD envelope.

WinDVD Installation

WinDVD is a simple to use DVD player combining all the features

you would expect to find in a standard consumer DVD player, in

addition to some very advanced functionality, such as full VCD 2.0

support, full precision video decode, a choice of user interfaces and

video display options.

1. Insert the software CD and auto-run should start

automatically. If auto-run does not start, click Start then Run.

Type in D:\auto.exe and click OK. (Change D: to match your

CD-ROM drive letter)

2. Click WinDVD, then click Install. Follow the on-screen

instructions to complete installation.

After WinDVD installation is complete, return to the WinDVD

installation screen and click User's Guide to view the user's manual.

WinRip Installation

WinRip is a state-of-the-art software application that provides you

with a complete audio playback and recording environment. It

supports various audio formats such as MP3, WAVE, MIDI, Audio

CD and more.

1. Insert the software CD and auto-run should start

automatically. If auto-run does not start, click Start then Run.

Type in D:\auto.exe and click OK. (Change D: to match your

CD-ROM drive letter)

2. Click WinRip, then click Install. Please key in serial number

"N9J9JEX9M9R59ER" . Follow the on-screen instructions to

complete installation.

After WinRip installation is complete, return to the WinRip

installation screen and click Help to view the user's manual.

Speaker Tester

Speaker Tester allows you to diagnose common surround sound

speaker setups. The utility is run directly from the software CD.

1. Insert the software CD and auto-run should start

automatically. If auto-run does not start, click Start then Run.

Type in D:\auto.exe and click OK. (Change D: to match your

CD-ROM drive letter)

2. Click Speaker Tester.

3. Choose which diagnostic test to run; 2 Channel, 4 Channel or

5.1 Channel. You can also check on the output of an

individual speaker channel by clicking on it graphical

representation.

Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)

SIIG warrants to the original buyer of the product that the hardware

is free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one,

two or five years from the date of purchase. If your product fails to

be in good working order during the warranty period, you may

return it to SIIG for repair or replacement at SIIG's option.

To return the product, you need to follow these steps.

Step 1: Contact SIIG's RMA Department

To obtain an RMA number, SIIG's RMA Department can be reached

by phone at (510)413-5333 or fax at (510)657-5962 or email at

[email protected]. In order to issue an RMA number, the product

serial number is required. This number can be found on the side of

the box and on the back of the product.

Step 2: Complete the RMA form

• Fill out your Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form,

and include it in the package with the product.

• Properly pack the product for shipping. All software, cable(s)

and other accessories that came with the original package

must be included.

• Clearly write your RMA number on the top of the returned

package and on the accompanying RMA form.

SIIG will refuse to accept any shipping package, and will not

be responsible for a product returned without an RMA number

posted on the outside of the shipping carton.

Step 3: Ship the Product

You are responsible for the cost of shipping back to SIIG at the

US Mail at no cost to you.
