Application

The HARS-T03.xx room operating unit for control of indoor room temperature is used in

conjunction with the HARS-C10 room controller. The room operating unit detects the

temperature and transmits its information to HARS-C10 room controller for room

temperature control. The room operating unit displays the temperature and operating

mode in the hotel room and is used to control the fan coil unit, either manually or

automatically via the connected room controller.

Function

The HARS-T03.xx room operating unit communicates with the HARS-C10 room

controller via digital signals, performing the following functions:

•Display the room temperature

•Correct the manual room temperature setpoint

•Display the manual room temperature setpoint

•Set the 1

fan speed or Auto" operating mode for automatic selection of the fan

speed

•Display 1

fan speed or Auto" operating mode for automatic selection of the fan

speed

•Measure and transmit the room temperature detected via the built-in 2,2 kΩNTC

room sensor

•Display notification messages

The HARS-T03.xx room operating unit is connected to the HARS-C10 room controller.

The connection has to be made with a flat telephone cable (8x0,14mm², maximum

length 20m) terminated on both ends with RJ45 male connectors.

Mechanical design

The room operating unit comprises:

•Printed circuit board with the electronic circuit, 4 7-segment LED displays, buttons for

operation with LED indication, with RJ45 connector

•Base frame:

−Bticino Living/Type L4703 for HARS-T03.BB

−Legrand Vela/Type 72843 for HARS-T03.LB

−Vimar Idea/Type 16713 for HARS-T03.VB

The printed circuit board is fixed with screws onto the base frame and can be replaced.

The guest can use the room unit to do the following:

•Adjust the preset room temperature setpoint from ±0°C to ±10°C, configured in

controller. The step is 1°C. Each temperature increment/decrement is displayed onto

display as set point.

•Enable fan-coil to run in 1

speed

•Change from manual to automatic mode ("Auto")

•Switch Fan coil unit on/off

Switching to "Auto" causes the fan speed to be set automatically by the controller

(Speed 1, 2 or 3).

The temperature setpoint valid for the room is displayed on the LED display panel when

changing the setpoint.

When the guest leaves the room (removing the access card from the card holder) the

system switches automatically to "Auto", and the "Precomfort" room operating mode

with the energy-saving function comes into effect. When the guest returns to the room,

the guest’s personally selected "Auto" or “1

speed” mode becomes active and the

"Comfort" room operating mode is restored.

In conjunction with the HOTEL AUTOMATION ROOM SYSTEM SOFTWARE, the room

temperature setpoints preset for a given room are automatically reinstated when the

guest checks out - "room not rented" mode.

Via HARS-SWxx all temperature parameters can be changed.

Engineering notes

The HARS-T03.xx room operating unit is designed for flush wall mounting and fixed in

a base frame. Cover frames for this base unit are available from the installation ranges

of various manufacturers (see "Ordering").

One HARS-T03.xx room operating unit can be connected directly to the HARS-C10

room controller.

The HARS-T03.xx room temperature control algorithm is not in the room operating unit

itself, but in the room controller application program (firmware). To enable the room

controller to communicate with the room operating unit, there is no need to address the

device – it communicates directly with the room controller (plug and play).

Mounting instructions

To measure the temperature with the built-in temperature sensor, the HARS-T03.xx

room operating unit must be installed in a location suitable for room temperature

measurement.

Heat sources result in false temperature measurements. Ensure a minimum distance of

1.5 m from lamps and heaters-radiators and also a distance from Fan coil unit air flow.

If the sensor is in an unsuitable location, the measured value can be corrected with a

temperature offset. The correction can be undertaken with the HOTEL AUTOMATION

ROOM SYSTEM SOFTWARE.

•The HARS-T03.xx room operating unit should be mounted at eye level in the living

area of the hotel room (apprx 1.5m).

•Lamps and other heat sources in the vicinity of the room temperature sensor must

not be allowed to influence the measured temperature. The room unit with the built-in

temperature sensor is not suitable for mounting within reach of the bed, for example,

because items such as bedside lamps can cause too much heat and increase the

measured temperature.

•Conduits must be sealed where they enter wall boxes, so that draughts does not

falsify the temperature.

•To remove the device, it must be unscrewed from the wall together with the base-

frame.

•The RJ45 connector enables simple plugging the cable with adequate RJ45

connector terminated on flat telephone cable (8x0,14mm

•The device is intended for fixed installation in a dry, enclosed space.

•For installation in a 3-module mounting box.

•Must be mounted horizontally only, with the front plate vertical

•Do not install AC 230 V devices in the same mounting box

•Commissioning must be carried out by trained personnel only

•Do not open the unit

•Local safety and installation regulations must be observed

Commissioning

To operate devices connected to the same room controller attention should be paid to

correctly connect flat telephone cables to room controller.

Flat telephone cable (or UTP) for HARS-T03.xx must not be mixed with flat cable for

HARS-RT.xx. Mixing those cables could cause HARS-T03.xx or room controller to

malfunction or even damage the device(s).
