Serie 55

Anfang der 60er-Jahre des 20. Jahrhunderts bestellte die

Belgische Staatsbahn NMBS/SNCB diverse Diesellokomoti-

ven als Ersatz für die bisher eingesetzten Dampﬂokomotiven.

Zu diesem Beschaffungsprogramm gehörte auch die 6-ach-

sige schwere Diesellokomotive der Serie 205, die später als

Serie 55 umgezeichnet wurde und unter der Bezeichnung

Serie 1800 von den Luxemburgischen Staatsbahnen CFL

beschafft wurde. Mit einer Motorleistung von 1.173 kW bis

1.434 kW je nach Ausführung war diese Lok für eine Höchst-

geschwindigkeit von 120 km/h konzipiert.

Information about the Prototype

class 55

At the beginning of the 1960s the Belgian State Railroad

NMBS/SNCB placed orders for different types of diesel lo-

comotives as replacements for the steam locomotives in use

up to that time. The class 205 (later designated as the class

55) 6-axle heavy diesel locomotives and the class 1800 of the

Luxembourg State Railways CFL were part of this procure-

ment program. With a motor output of 1,173 kilowatts / 1,573

horsepower to 1,434 kilowatts / 1,922 horsepower, depending

on the version, these locomotives were designed for a maxi-

mum speed of 120 km/h or 75 mph.

Série 55

Dans le cadre du remplacement des locomotives à vapeur,

la Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Belges (SNCB) a

commandé au début des années soixante du 20ème siècle

diverses locomotives diesels dont la lourde locomotive à 6

essieux série 205, renumérotée par la suite dans la série 55.

Les Chemins de fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) se sont également

procuré de telles machines et les ont numérotées dans la sé-

rie 1800. D’une puissance de 1173 à 1434 kW selon la version,

cette locomotive pouvait rouler à 120 km/h.

Serie 55

Aan het begin der zestiger jaren van de twintigste eeuw

bestelden de Belgische spoorwegen NMBS/SNCB verschil-

lende diesellocomotieven als vervanger voor de tot dan toe

in gebruik zijnde stoomlocomotieven. Tot het totale aankoop-

programma behoorde ook deze 6 assige, zware dieselloco-

motief van de serie 205, die later werd omgenummerd naar

serie 55 en als serie 1800 door de Luxemburgse spoorwegen

CFL aangekocht werd. Met een motorvermogen van 1173 kW

tot 1434 kW, afhankelijk van de uitvoering, was deze locomo-

tief voor een maximumsnelheid van 120 km/h ontworpen.
