Preface

Introduction

This publication provides information needed to use the 1757-FFLD,

FOUNDATION Fieldbus Linking Device. The linking device serves as a link

between Fieldbus Foundation’s High Speed Ethernet (HSE) and H1 segments.

It also serves as a link between EtherNet/IP and H1 segments. The linking

device provides connectivity for FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices to Logix

controllers, such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and FlexLogix.

This publication defines the Foundation Fieldbus function blocks and

function block parameters that reside in the linking device.

This publication also provides user information about the linking device’s Web

pages. The Web pages provide status and diagnostic information about the

linking device. The information found on these pages assists with configuring

and maintaining a FOUNDATION Fieldbus system.

For information on configuring and programming a linking device in a system

with Logix controllers, see the RSFieldbus Application Guide, publication

RSFBUS-AT001.

Manual

We use the following conventions in this manual:

Convention Meaning Example

click Click left mouse button once. (Assumes cursor is positioned on

object or selection.)

Click Browse.

double-click Click left mouse button twice in quick succession. (Assumes

cursor is positioned on object or selection.)

Double-click the H1 icon.

right-click Click right mouse button once. (Assumes cursor is positioned on

object or selection.)

Right-click the Fieldbus Networks icon.

drag and drop Click and hold the left mouse button on an object, move the

cursor to where you want to move the object, and release the

mouse button.

Drag and drop the desired block into the Strategy

window.

select Click to highlight a menu item or list choice. Select H1-1 from the drop-down list.

check/uncheck Click to activate/deactivate a checkbox. Check the Do not show this dialog again

checkbox.

⇒Shows nested menu selections as menu name followed by menu

selection.

Click File ⇒Page Setup ⇒Options.

expand Click the + to the left of a given item /folder to show its

contents.

In the H1-1 window, expand the linking device.

<Enter> Keys to be pressed are shown in angle brackets. Press <Enter>.

Create a Project for the

Controller

To configure and program a Logix5000 controller, use RSLogix 5000 software

to create and manage a project for the controller.

Project – The file on your workstation (or server) that

stores the logic, configuration, data, and documentation

for a controller.

•The file for the project has an .ACD extension.

•When you create a project, the project name is

the same as the name of the controller.

•The controller name is independent of the project

name. You can rename either the project name or

the controller name.

Name of the Project

If you rename the project or controller, both names are

shown.

Name of the Controller

Controller organizer – graphical overview of the

project. Use the controller organizer to navigate to the

various components of a project.

To open a folder and show its contents, either:

•Double-click the folder.

•Click the + sign.

To close a folder and hide its contents, either:

•Double-click the folder.

•Click the – sign.
