This package contains two sets of the Xerox 4850/4890 HighLight Color Laser Printing

Systems Palettes. Each set includes an introduction to the use and structure of the

palettes and instructions for printing additional palette samples.

The palettes contain the full range of inks available on your 4850 or 4890 HighLight Color

Laser Printing System with Version 5.0 software. Use the palettes as guides for selecting

the appropriate inks for your highlight color print jobs. Consider adding one set of

palettes into each of the following programming manuals for easy reference as you

develop your print job and forms libraries:

Palettes

This document contains color-related information for the Xerox

4850/4890 HighLight Color Laser Printing System (LPS) as follows:

• A list of the primary colors available.

• The commands to use when printing inks and palettes.

• A list of the inks available in the XEROX1, DFAULT, and

XEROX ink catalogs.

• The highlight color palettes that comprise the XEROX1,

DFAULT, and XEROX ink catalogs. These palettes represent

the full range of inks available on your 4850 or 4890

HighLight Color Laser Printing System.

• Comparisons of the equivalent or closest matching inks

between the DFAULT or XEROX catalogs and the XEROX1

catalog.

COLOR PALETTES

XEROX1 ink catalog palettes and inks

The XEROX1 ink catalog contains a SIMPLE palette and a palette

for each of the primary colors, including black (that‘s the MONO

palatte). The XEROX1 ink catalog contains the following palettes:

• SIMPLE

• CARDINAL

• CYAN

• GRAY

• GREEN

• MAGENTA

• RED

• ROYAL

• RUBY

• VIOLET

SIMPLE palette

The SIMPLE palette contains a solid ink for each primary dry ink.

The colors available are:

The palettes for the remaining primaries have the same name as

the primary. Color names unique to the separate primaries are

listed in Table P-3. Each of these palettes also contains a large

set of common colors. Those common colors are listed in Table

P-4.
