Instruction manual

Connect an SSD to the adapter card

Warning! Drives should be handled carefully, especially when you transport them. If

you’re not careful with your drives, you may experience lost or corrupted data. Make

sure that you’re properly grounded by wearing an anti-static strap when you install

any computer component. If an anti-static strap isn’t available, touch a large, grounded

metal surface for several seconds to discharge any built-up static electricity.

1. Carefully slide the SSD into the drive adapter card and connect it to the SFF-8639

connector on the card.

2. Turn the drive adapter card over.

3. Use a Phillips screwdriver and insert the four drive-mounting screws into the

mounting holes on the drive adapter card and into the SSD.

4. Tighten the screws.

Install the adapter card

Warning! PC components can be severely damaged by static electricity. If an anti-

static strap isn’t available, discharge any built-up static electricity by touching a large,

grounded metal surface for several seconds.

1. Turn o your computer and any devices or peripherals that are connected to it

(for example, printers, external storage, and so on).

2. Unplug the power cable from the back of your computer.

3. Disconnect any peripheral devices that are connected to your computer.

4. Open your computer case. For more information about how to do this, consult

the documentation that came with your computer system.

5. Locate an open PCIe slot and remove the corresponding metal cover plate from

the back of your computer case. Consult the documentation that came with your

computer system for detailed instructions about how to do this.

Note: This drive adapter card works in PCIe slots of x4, x8, or x16 lanes.

6. Gently insert the drive adapter card into the open PCIe slot and use a computer

case screw (not included) to fasten the bracket to the back of the case.

7. Place the cover back onto your computer case.

Instruction manual

8. Reconnect the power cable to the back of your computer and reconnect all of

the peripheral devices that you disconnected in step 3.

9. Turn on your computer.

There may be additional steps required to enable drive functionality, such as installing

drivers or updating the rmware for the drive or motherboard. For more information,

consult the documentation that came with the drive or motherboard.

About the LED terminal

You can connect an LED (not included) to the LED terminal on the drive adapter card.

The LED terminal generates an activity LED, but the exact behavior of the LED indicator

is dependent upon the SSD connected to the drive adapter card.
