are followed. Please contact the IMC Teddy Engineering Department (800-221-5644) for
additional assistance.
Please read the attached information carefully, as much of the information provided is
reecting proven operating techniques used in previous installations.

START-UP PROCEDURES
Step 1:
Step 2:
*Waste Water Tank (6 Gal) *Fresh Water Tank (5 Gal) *8’ Cord/Plug 5-15/120 V & Hook
*GFI Outlet *Door Pull & Lock
Fill fresh water tank with cold,
potable water. Fill up to the
indicated “Water Level” mark
as shown in photo.
Plug the external power cord
into a dedicated electrical
outlet.
WARNING: The external power cord has a 3 prong standard 5-15 plug. Use only 120V power
sources. Please check voltage before operating the unit.
2

Step 3:
DO NOT PLUG IN WATER
HEATER YET!!!
Open cabinet door and plug the
following into the GFI outlet:
a. Water Pump
(standard, black 3 prong plug)
b. Sensor Faucet Control Module
(larger, black transformer)
Step 4:
Step 5:
With the unit fully connected,
place hands under water spout
or in front of sensor and let
water run 1-2 minutes.
Make sure hands remain
within range of sensor.
Inside of cabinet, plug the
water heater (colored plug)
into the GFI outlet.
The unit is now ready to use!

OPERATION DIAGRAM
OPERATION TIPS
• DO NOT CONNECT WATER HEATER TO ELECTRICITY UNLESS UNIT IS FULL OF WATER!!!
• Check the waste water tank periodically. Dump out waste water when it reaches the “Empty
Water Level”. Dispose of waste water in a sanitary drain only.
• Do NOT let the waste water tank overow.
• Keep the drain hose inserted into the waste water tank at all times.
• Do NOT let the water pump run dry for more than 2 minutes; damage to the pump may occur.
• When fresh water tank is empty, the pump will drain air bubbles into the system. This is an
indicator that the fresh water tank must be relled.
• Disconnect the water pump from the GFI outlet until the fresh water tank can be relled.

HOT WATER WARNING
TROUBLESHOOTING
Water Heater
DANGER Hot water can be dangerous, especially for infants or children, the
elderly, or inrm. There is hot water scald potential if the thermostat
is set too high.
Water temperatures over 125°F (51°C) can cause severe burns or
scalding resulting in death.
Hot water can cause rst degree burns with exposure for as little as:
3 seconds at 140° F (60°C)
20 seconds at 130° F (54°C)
8 minutes at 120° F (48°C)
First steps to be taken in the event of malfunction:
» Check the circuit breaker
» Check the lter screen for scale blockage or dirt accumulation.
WARNING: Always shut off power and water to the unit prior to removing the lter screen. Failure to
do so may cause serious bodily injury or death.
Regularly clean and descale the lter screen located in the cold water inlet connection and if
necessary replace. Always shut off power and water to the unit prior to removing the lter screen.
A damp cloth is sucient for cleaning of the unit’s housing. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive
cleaning agents.
DANGER: Electrocution
Do not attempt to reset the safety pressure cutout of this water heater unless power to the unit has been
completely shut off at the circuit breakers.
Symptom Possible Cause Solution
No hot water
despite fully
opened hot
water faucet.
No electrical power
Check the circuit breaker and
check voltage at the wiring
block.
The activation ow rate
needed to turn on the
heating element has not
been reached.
– Clean lter screen
– Clean aerator installed at
faucet
Safety cut out tripped
– Turn circuit breakers off
– Open hot valve to release
pressure from the unit
– Turn circuit breakers off
– Reset safety pressure cut
out (See Figure to Right)
– Turn circuit breakers on

Tankless heaters are designed for a very long service life. Actual life expectancy will vary with
water quality and use. The unit itself does not require any regular maintenance. However, to ensure
consistent water ow, it is recommended to periodically remove scale and dirt that may build up at
the aerator of the faucet.
The unit has a built in lter screen that should be cleaned from time to time. In order to do this, turn
off the cold water supply at the isolating valve. Clean screen and put the screen back into its original
position.

Water Pump
Electronic Faucet (EFD-2D)
Water Pump Servicing
Sensor Range Adjustment
• NEVER remove the ground pin from the power plug.
• If pump runs erratically, open the discharge or dispensing valve. Allow water to circulate,
purging any entrapped air. Leave the valve open, disconnect the pump from power and
reconnect facilitating the air purging (Stop-start the pump by un-plugging it).
• Once the air is purged the pump will start building pressure, eventually reaching the regulated
pressure. Close the valve and the pump should shut off. Check for tting leaks.
• Observe any leaks after the pump has run for approximately 15 minutes. Further tighten
compressions nuts approximately 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn on all ttings in the unit. Wait 15 minutes
and repeat the leak check.
• NOTE: Further adjustments should not be necessary although it may take several days of
operation before all the air has been purged and the system is fully stabilized.
• Cycling: In response to the characteristics of the system in which the pump is installed (the
exibility and length of tubing, etc.), the pump may cycle a few times after shut off. This is
normal. When cycling, the pump should do so at a very low speed.
• Pump will prime only if all pressure is relieved from outlet port.
Every Year - Check unit against operating standards.
Every 5 Years - Replace diaphragm and check against operating standards.
The sensor range is preset at the factory during assembly but can be further adjusted by using the
steps below.
1. The sensing distance is adjustable from 3/4” (2cm) to 6-11/16” (17cm). If there is a disruption in
power, the sensor range is saved and will revert to the last setting when power is restored.
2. The faucet sensor range is set by simply using the on/off button on the front of the control module.
Do not attempt to open the control module box.
3. Push and hold the on/off button; water will ow. After holding the button 5 to 7 seconds, the water
ow will stop and the red LED in the sensor lens will turn on solid.
4. Release the on/off button. The red LED will turn off signaling that the sensor is ready for set-up
for the next 15 seconds.

7

5. Hold your hand still in front of the sensor at the desired sensor distance. The red LED will ash roughly 5
times then remain on for 2 seconds indicating the new range has been set.
6. If step 5 is not done within 15 seconds, the red LED will blink quickly then stop indicating the sensor
range has NOT been changed. Start over at step 3 to change the sensor range.
PROBLEM
No Water When Activated
(Red LED in electronic eye)
Very Low Flow or Slow Dribble
False Triggering
(Unit goes on by itself)
Continues to Run
(Even after power to faucet
has been disconnected)
If red LED stays on or is ashing:
1. Replace batteries.
2. If appropriate action from no. 1
does not correct problem:
• Sensor range too long/ picking
up sink. Reduce range.
1. Check supply stop(s); open if
closed.
2. Debris in supply hose lter
washers in 1/2” NPSM swivel end;
remove, clean and reinstall.
3. Debris in aerator or spray head;
remove, clean and reinstall.
1. Check surroundings for factors
that can contribute to false
triggering; for example, bright
lights, highly reective surfaces,
sunlight, etc.
2. Range too long; decrease
sensor range.
1. Debris in solenoid valve won’t
close properly. Contact us.
POSSIBLE CAUSE/SOLUTION
Continued>>>
Sensor Faucet Control Module
• Red ashing in the electronic eye indicates low batteries. Replacement batteries: Alkaline AA.
Fresh alkaline batteries should last 400,000 on/off cycles.
• Solid red light in the electronic eye and no water ow indicates batteries are dead.
• NOTE: If unit is used in conjunction with the AC adapter, the faucet will automatically switch to
AC power and conserve its battery power.
