HT-5270 Troubleshooting
This Troubleshooting Guide walks you step-by-step through the
diagnosis of HT-5270 customer issues. It is important to follow these
steps carefully, to ensure that the problem is diagnosed correctly, and
therefore the appropriate repair action is taken.
Getting Started
1. Turn the power switch on the back of the chair to Off, wait
approximately five seconds, then turn it back On. Verify that the
problem still exists.
2. If there is no movement on the chair when you power it on (the
backrest massage mechanism and the foot and calf massager
paddles do not move), see "Power" on page 3.
3. Turn the power switch on the back of the chair to Off, wait
approximately five seconds, then turn it back On.
4. Wait 30 seconds while a system check is performed, observing
whether the back massage mechanism and foot and calf
massager paddles move during the system check, then check to
see if any of the following are true:
• The Rolling and Zone LEDs are flashing—This means the
elevation motor is not operating correctly. Replace the chair.
• The back massage mechanism did not move during the system
check—This means that the kneading motor is not operating
correctly. Replace the chair.
• The foot and calf massager paddles did not move during the
system check —This means that the foot and calf massager
motor is not operating correctly. Replace the foot and calf
massager.

IMPORTANT
There is no way to distinguish between the foot and calf
massager motor or the PCB as the root cause of the problem. If
replacing the foot and calf massager does not solve the
problem, replace the chair.
5. Choose from the following:
To Troubleshoot This
Issue: Do The Following:
My remote control is
not working
If one or more remote control LEDs do not light,
but the function the button controls works
properly, the remote control is not working
properly. Verify that the remote control cable
connection to the backrest cover is secure.
Replace the remote.
If the remote control LED lights but the function it
controls is not working properly, the problem is
most likely in one of the components controlled
by the remote, not in the remote itself See
"Massage Functions" on page 4 for further
diagnosis.
My chair is not
massaging properly
See "Massage Functions" on page 4.
My foot and calf
massager is not
working
See "Foot and Calf Massager" on page 3.
My chair won’t
recline/incline
Make sure you are pressing and holding the
recline/incline button for at least five
seconds; it can take several seconds to
activate the actuator.
See "Recline/Incline" on page 4 for further
diagnosis.

Power
Step 1: Check the power cord
Verify that the power cord connection to the power panel is secure, and
that the cord is not damaged. If the power cord is damaged, replace the
power panel.
Step 2: Check the wall outlet
Plug a different device into the AC outlet into which the chair is plugged.
If the device does not work (is not receiving power), the AC outlet is
most likely not working. Plug the chair into a different AC outlet to verify
that it receives power.
Step 4: Replace the chair
An electrical surge may have bypassed the fuse and damaged the main
PCB. Replace the chair.
Foot and Calf Massager
The foot and calf massager hesitates when changing
directions:
This is due to the gears shifting, and is perfectly normal.
The foot and calf massager will not deploy or retract:
1. Press the foot and calf massage button on the remote control, then
wait 30 seconds.
2. If the foot and calf massager begins massaging but will not deploy or
retract, the foot and calf massager actuator is not working properly.
This actuator is not replaceable. Replace the chair.
4HT-5270 Troubleshooting Guide
The foot and calf massager will not massage:
IMPORTANT
Make sure the foot and calf massager is fully deployed, as it
must be fully deployed to work.
This means that either the foot and calf massager motor sensor is not
operating correctly or there is a broken wire connecting the foot and calf
massager to the backrest. Replace the foot and calf massager.
The foot and calf massager vibration is not working:
The vibration motor is not working properly. Replace the foot and calf
massager.
Massage Functions
Follow the steps in this section to troubleshoot massage functions that
are not working properly.
Recline/Incline
Remote beeps once when Recline/Incline buttons are
pushed
If you hear a single beep when you push the Recline and Incline
buttons, it means the backrest actuator is receiving power. Therefore the
actuator itself is not working properly. Replace the backrest actuator.
To Troubleshoot This
Issue: Do The Following:
My Percussion
massage is not working
Press the Percussion button on the remote
control. If the percussion massage does not work,
the percussion motor is not working properly.
Replace the chair.
My Kneading massage
is not working
Press the Kneading button on the remote control.
If the kneading massage works for approximately
30 seconds then stops, the kneading motor
sensor is not working properly. Replace the chair.
My Rolling massage is
not working
Press the Rolling button on the remote control. If
the massage works for approximately 30 seconds
then stops, the elevation motor sensor is not
working properly. Replace the chair.
HT-5270 Troubleshooting Guide 5
Remote beeps twice when Recline/Incline buttons pushed
If the backrest is in a fully inclined position and you hear two beeps
when you push the Recline button, it means the safety sensor has likely
failed.
1. Make sure that nothing is pressing on the safety sensor.
2. Tap the safety sensor with your foot to ensure that it didn’t get stuck
during shipping.
3. If the problem still exists, replace the safety sensor.
