Preface
The DT-300 has been designed and developed to become a basic and low-cost model among the
CASIO handheld data collection terminals. While maintaining software-compatibility with the
DT-900 handheld terminal, the DT-300 has achieved its outstanding features in its class of
conventional handheld data collection terminals including a high screen resolution (112 x 64 dots)
and improved environmental performances.
In this reference manual, the DT-300 is referred to as either “DT-300” or “DT-300M60E” or
Terminal”.

2. Appearance
2.1 DT-300

1 Reader port Emits a laser that reads bar codes.
2 Read indicator LED Indicates the status of the read operation; green for a successful read, red for an
unsuccessful read.
3 LCD screen Displays information about the programs being run.
4 Read key Pressing this key activates the bar code reader.
5 Stroke key A total of 18 keys are provided for operations and to turn the power on and off.
6 Reset switch (inside hole) Use a paper clip or other thin object to press the Reset switch located inside the
hole to initialize the internal status of the terminal
7 Wrist strap hook Hook for attaching the wrist strap.
8 Laser warning label Class 2 laser product warning label
9 Buzzer Produces operation confirmation tones. Take care to avoid blocking the buzzer
holes and reducing output sound volume.
10 Main battery compartment Holds the two alkaline batteries.
11 Main battery compartment
lock
Locks the main battery compartment cover in place. The terminal power is
automatically cut off if the cover is removed and the power cannot be turned
back on.
12 Power terminals The terminals receive power from the Bridge Satellite Cradle (DT-364IOE).
13 IrDA port This port is for contact-less infrared data communication with another DT-300
or the Bridge Satellite Cradle (DT-364IOE).

2.2 DT-364IOE (Bridge Satellite Cradle)

1 USB port This port accepts connection of a USB cable for connection to a computer
for transfer of system data and file data. Use of the USB port requires
installation of a special driver on the PC.
2 RS-232C port This port accepts connection of an RS-232C cable for connection to a
computer for transfer of system data and file data. Use of the RS-232C port
requires installation of a special driver on the PC.
3 RS-422C port This port is used when connecting to another Bridge Satellite Cradle.
4 Terminal detect
switch
This switch detects when the DT-300 is seated correctly on the Cradle.
5 IR port This port transfers data with the DT-300 IR port non-contact data
communication.
6 Power contacts Power is supplied to the DT-300 via these contacts.
7 Power switch Turns the power on and off.
8 AC adaptor jack Connect the AC adaptor here.
This lamp indicates whether the system is operating normally. Regardless
of whether or not an DT-300 is mounted this lamp indicates the system
status and whether or not a communication operation with the system can
be performed.
Off : System is not operating.

This lamp shows that the DT-300 is performing data communication via a
serial interface (RS-232C/RS-422).
Off : No data communication being performed
Green flashing : Data communication in progress

This lamp indicates the power status and the mounting status of the DT-300.
Off : Power off
Green : Power on, DT-300 mounted correctly
11 Power indicator

12 DIP switches Use these switches to configure the Cradle as required.
