environment if not avoided.
2. Safety
CAUTION!
Before installation, commissioning and operation, ensure
that the appropriate instrument (air quality sensor) has
been selected.
2.1 Intended use
This air quality sensor is used for measuring the indoor air quality in
buildings, oces, classrooms, kitchens etc.
The instrument has been designed and built solely for the intended use
described here, and may only be used accordingly.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for claims of any type based on
operation contrary to the intended use.

4. Design and function / 5. Transport, packaging ...
4. Design and function
Description
The sensor changes its conductivity in proportion to the number of
molecules of reduced gases. The associated output voltage of the
measuring element is correspondingly increased from DC 0 ... 10 V.
The greater the output signal of the sensor (0 ... 10 V), the worse the air
quality. Mixed gas sensors are wide band, i.e. the sensor signal does
neither show the type of gas nor the concentration in ppm.The sensor
cannot distinguish pleasant from unpleasant smells, but in the end it is
the persons living or working in the room who have to judge whether the
air quality is satisfactory or not.
Scope of delivery
Cross-check scope of delivery with delivery note.
5. Transport, packaging and storage
5.1 Transport
Check the air quality sensor for any damage that may have been caused
during transportation. Obvious damage must be reported immediately.
5.2 Packaging
Do not remove packaging until just before mounting.
Keep the packaging as it will provide optimum protection during trans-
port (e.g. change in installation site, sending for repair).
5.3 Storage
Permissible conditions at the place of storage:
Storage temperature: -20 ... +50 °C
Protect the instruments from moisture and dust.

changes and vibrations
■
Solar irradiation and air draught are to be avoided
■

■
Max. air draught 10 m/s
Electrical connections
The sensor cannot distinguish pleasant from unpleasant smells, but
in the end it is the persons living or working in the room who have to
judge whether the air quality is satisfactory or not. Moreover, dierent air
compositions are occurring in dierent rooms.
This means that the set point for the required air quality is temporarily
preset during production. Optimisation must be done when the sensor
is installed.
Individual adjustment of the output signal is made via a trim potentiom-
eter on the sensor PCB. With this, the oset of the output signal is either
raised or lowered:
1. Attach sensors, lock the cover, switch on the power supply
2. Make sure there are good air conditions close to the sensor

GB
3. After running for about 30 minutes, check the output signal. The
voltage should be in the range of 1 ... 3 V.With a too high/low voltage,
correct the value accordingly
with the trim potentiometer on
the PCB:
Turn the potentiometer to the left
until the red LED just goes out.
The output signal will now be
approximately 0.7 V.
4. The sensor is now ready to be
used - the voltage of the output
signal will rise as the air quality
worsens.

environmentally compatible way and in accordance with the country-
specic waste disposal regulations.
