Before you wash

your fmt load

SAFETY

Careless use of any appliance can injure the user or damage the

machine. Read and remember the safety information on the inside

cover of the “Bat-Pa k” folder.

INSTALLATION_

Be sure your washer is installed according to installation instructions.

OPERATION

For best results, read and understand this booklet before you wash

your first load. Keep it for future reference.

LAUNDERING

The last steps to take before starting your washer are some of the most

important:

A. Measure detergent and put it in the washer basket. [“Laundry

Guide” pages 9-10.)

B. Sort laundry properly. [“Laundry Guide” page 5.)

C. Load the washer properly. [“Laundry Guide” pages 6-7.)

D. Add other laundry aids (bleach, fabric softeners, water condition-

ers, etc.) according to instructions on page 7 in this book, and

“Laundry Guide” pages 11-13.

Remove the Consumer Buy Guide label.

Starttng your washer

Before starting your washer, be sure you have measured and

added detergent, put in a properly sorted load, and have used

other laundry aids only as recommended in your “Laundry Guide.’

Select a

LOAD SIZE

Select WATER

TEMPERATURES

To change the setting on the LOAD

SIZE SELECTOR, turn the knob to RESET

Then turn the knob to point at a

setting that describes the size of

the load you want to wash

Set the knob anywhere on or

between HAND WASHABLE (a few

small items) and EX LARGE (a full

load).

See the “Laundry Guide” for details

on load sizes.

Select wash and rinse water tem-

peratures by pushing a button.

This drawing shows a warm wash

(top temperature) and cold rinse

(bottom temperature] selection.

Recommended wash tempera-

tures are in your “Laundry Guide”

and printed under the washer lid.

LOAD SIZES AND WATER LEVELS

Save energy Use less than a full tub

of water when you have less than a full

load to wash.

Be careful to use enough water for

the load. Too big a load ortoo little

water can result in a wash that isn’t

clean or can even

tear items.

3. Start the washer

Push in the Control Knob and

turn it to the right. It must be

pushed in and turned only to the

right (clockwise).

Stop on a number in the cycle

you want. The numbers are

minutes of wash time. The

drawing shows 8 minutes of

agitation in the REGULAR HEAVY

Cycle.

Start the washer by pulling out

the Control Knob. The washer

will fill to the level you set with

wash water of the selected

temperature. After filling, the

washer will agitate for the

selected number of minutes.

To stop the washer at any time,

push in the Control Knob. To

restart the washer, pull out the

Control Knob.

To set the controls for a rinse and spin

(second rinse), a drain and spin, or a

soak or pre-wash, see page 6. 5

PRE-WASH

Use enough detergent or pre-soa k

product for a single load.

Push in Cycle Control Knob.

22,12 or 2 in the SOAK Cycle.

Pull out Control Knob to start the

washer.

When the cycle is over, add deter-

gent for the next selected wash

cycle. (IMPORTANT: Special care

information in “Laundry Guide”

Set the washer and start the next

selected wash cycle.

To start the soak or pre-wash with agitation, the Cycle Control

Knob must point to a number in the SOAK Cycle.

MAGIC CLEANB LINT FILTER

The lint filter in vour washer cleans

itself. Collected lint is drained away

with the wash and rinse water.

If your washer drains into a tub,

remove any lint collected in the

drain or strainer.

LIQUID BLEACH DISPENSER

After loading the washer, measure

liquid bleach in a

standard mea-

suring cup.

Follow directions on the bottle for

the amount to use. Never use

more than 1 cup (250 ml) for a full

load. Use less with lower level

settings.

Use a cup with a pouring spout to

help avoid spilling.

Do not let any bleach splash,

drip or run down into the washer

basket. Undiluted bleach will

damage any fabric.

LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER DISPENSER

Lift the dispenser off the agitator.

Add detergent and load to the

basket.

Replace the dispenser on the

agitator.

Add

liquid fubric

softener to the

dispenser using the amount rec-

ommended on the bottle.

Avoid dripping or spilling any on

the load.

IMPORTANT: Add enough hot or

warm water to fill the dispenser to

the FULL mark.

Diluted softener will be added to

the load when the washer stops

spinning after the wash part of the

cycle. NOTE: Do not stop the

washer during this spin. If you do,

the fabric softener will be added

to the remaining, soapy wash

water. This can cause stains

Clean the dispenser after each

use with only warm water. Deter-

gent can make softeners sticky

and lumpy.

What happens in each cycle

The Cycle Control is a timer. The numbers on the dial are the min-

utes of WASH time you can select. Agitation speed, spin speed and

time, and rinse agitation speed and time are built into each cycle to

provide proper washing for different types of fabrics and loads.

After the washer fills the pointer of the Cycle Control Knob moves

setting of wrinkles

KNITS GENTLE CYCLE

Low agitation and spin

speeds and shorter wash

time make this cycle the

one to use for delicate

items and washable

synthetic knits. Wash

nylon hose or panty hose

in a net laundry bag.

REGULAR HEAVY CYCLE

SOAK CYCLE

Use for sturdy white and

colorfast cottons, and for

heavy work clothes. High

agitation and spin

speeds are designed to

help remove heavy soils

and spin water from

heavy cotton fabrics.

This is not a complete

wash cycle. It soaks,

agitates, spins out the

water and stops without

rinsing. Use it for stained,

yellowed, grey or heavily

soiled laundry with a

detergent or pre-soak

product

to the right, like the hands of a clock, until it reaches OFF and the

cycle ends.

You may hear the sound of water spraying during the spin parts of

some cycles In some cycles, cold water is sprayed on the spinning

load to help with the rinsing

If you have a storage tub big enough to hold about 25 gal-

lons (95 liters), you can have a qualified installer convert your

washer to save all the wash water

To Save Wash Water

Be sure the stopper is In the storage tub The SUDS-MISER System

does not save rrnse water from any cycle, nor does it save wash

water from the PERMANENT PRESSCycle.
