WARRANTY
The TM45 Digital Thermometer is warranted against any defects of material or
workmanship within a period of one (1) year following the date of purchase of the
multimeter by the original purchaser or original user.
Any multimeter claimed to be defective during the warranty period should be
returned with proof of purchase to an authorized Wavetek Meterman Service
Center or to the local Wavetek Meterman dealer or distributor where your multi-
meter was purchased. See maintenance section for details.
Any implied warranties arising out of the sale of a Wavetek Meterman multi-
meter, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fit-
ness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the above stated one (1)
year period. Wavetek Meterman shall not be liable for loss of use of the multi-
meter or other incidental or consequential damages, expenses, or economical
loss or for any claim or claims for such damage, expenses or economical loss.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long implied warranties last or
the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above
limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other
rights which vary from state to state.

INTRODUCTION
The TM45 is a portable, 3-1/2 digit, compact-sized digital ther-
mometer designed for use with an external K-type thermocouple as
temperature sensor. Temperature indication follows Reference
Temperature/Voltage tables N.I.S.T. Monograph 175 Revised to ITS-90
for K-type thermocouples. One K-type thermocouple is supplied with
the thermometer.

Das TM45 ist ein tragbares, 3-1/2 stelliges, kompaktes Digitalther-
mometer zum Messen mit externenTyp K Temperaturfühlern.
Temperaturanzeige erfolgt gemäß Temperatur/Spannungs-Referenz-
tabelle N.I.S.T. Monograph 175 überarbeitet gemäß ITS-90 für Typ K
Thermoelemente. Ein Typ K Temperaturfühler ist mit dem Gerät mit-
geliefert.

El TM45 es un termómetro digital portátil, de 3 1/2 dígitos y tamaño
compacto, diseñado para utilizarlo con un termopar externo de tipo K
como sensor de temperatura. La indicación de temperatura sigue las
tablas de referencia temperatura/tensión del NIST - Monografía 175
revisada según ITS-90 para termopares de tipo K. Con el termómetro se
entrega un termopar de tipo K.

Le TM45 est un thermomètre digital portatif, 3-1/2 digits, compact, pour
utilisation avec des thermocouples de type K externes. L’indication de
température suit les tableaux de référence température/tension N.I.S.T.
monographe 175 revus selon ITS-90 pour thermocouples de type K. Un
thermocouple de type K est livré avec l’appareil.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
■ When measuring surface temperatures, the potential between the
measured surface and earth ground must not exceed 24V AC or DC.
Voltages above 20V are dangerous. ■ Inspect the instrument and
probe before every use. Do not use damaged parts. ■ Never ground
yourself when taking measurements in electrical circuits. Do not
touch exposed circuit elements or probe tip. ■ To avoid damage or
burns, do not make temperature measurements in microwave ovens.
■ Do not operate instrument in an explosive atmosphere.
Caution: Repeated sharp flexing can break the thermocouple leads.
To prolong lead life, avoid sharp bends in the leads, especially near
the connector.

Temperaturfühlers brechen. Um die Lebensdauer zu verlängern, vermei-
den Sie scharfes Biegen der Leiter, speziell in der Nähe des Verbinders.

E • Preparación del termómetro para su uso - Desembalaje
El embalaje debe contener: el termómetro digital con cuatro pilas AAA
de 1.5 V instaladas, una sonda de termopar tipo K de 1.2 m, un estuche
de transporte suave y este manual. Si falta algún componente u obser-
va daños, devuelva el conjunto al lugar donde lo adquirió para que se lo
cambien.
E • Préparation pour l’Emploi - Déballage
Votre emballage doit contenir: un thermomètre numérique avec quatre
piles 1.5V (installées), une sonde thermocouple de type K d’une
longueur de 1.2m, une sacoche souple et ce manuel. Si une pièce
manque ou est endommagée, ramenez l’ensemble au point de vente
pour un échange.
MEASURING PROCEDURE
❶Connect the K-type thermocouple probe to the instrument. ❷Turn
instrument on by sliding the function switch to the desired resolution
(1° or 0.1°). ❸ Push the selector key to select °C or °F (corresponding
symbol appears on display). ❹Apply the probe to the medium of which
the temperature is to be measured. ➎ Read the measured temperature
on the digital display.
DATA HOLD: When measuring in tight locations or dark areas you can
push the DATA HOLD button to “freeze” the reading on the display.

MAX HOLD: Push this button to monitor a temperature over a longer
time period. is displayed. The maximum value is kept on the
display and is updated each time a higher value is measured. Pressing
DATA HOLD while MAX recording is activated interrupts recording;
pressing DATA HOLD again resumes recording. Press MAX HOLD
again to return to normal measuring mode.

Wahltaste drücken um °C oder °F zu wählen (betreffendes
Symbol wird angezeigt).

Temperaturfühler in den Meßbereich bringen.

Anzeigesperre: HOLD-Taste drücken um Anzeige festzuhalten.

Spitzenwertmessung DATA HOLD zu drücken wird die Maximalwert-
erfassung unterbrochen. Durch DATA HOLD erneut zu drücken wird sie
wieder erfaßt. MAX HOLD erneut drücken um zur normalen Messung
zurückzukehren.
