1 About this documentation

1.1 Foreword

Read this document carefully and familiarise yourself with the operation of the product

before you use it.

Keep this document ready to hand and in the immediate vicinity of the product so that

it is available to the personnel/user for reference at all times in case of doubt.

The user must have carefully read and understood the operating manual before begin-

ning any work.

The liability and warranty of the manufacturer for damages and consequential damag-

es are voided with misuse, disregarding this document, disregarding safety notices,

assignment of inadequately qualified technical personnel and arbitrary modifications of

the product.

This document is entrusted to the recipient for personal use only.

For the exact product name, refer to the type plate on the rear side of the product.

NOTE

For information about the software version, press and hold the ON button to switch on

for longer than 5 seconds. The series is shown in the main display and the software

version of the product is shown in the secondary display.

2 Safety

2.1 Explanation of safety symbols

DANGER

This symbol warns of imminent danger, which can result in death, severe bodily injury,

or severe property damage in case of non-observance.

CAUTION

This symbol warns of potential dangers or harmful situations, which can cause damage

to the device or to the environment in case of non-observance.

NOTE

This symbol indicates processes, which can have a direct influence on operation or

can trigger an unforeseen reaction in case of non-observance.

2.2 Foreseeable misuse

The fault-free function and operational safety of the product can only be guaranteed if

applicable safety precautions and the device-specific safety instructions for this docu-

ment are observed.

If these notices are disregarded, personal injury or death, as well as property damage

can occur.

DANGER

Incorrect area of application!

In order to prevent erratic behaviour of the product, personal injury and property

damage, the product must be used exclusively as described in the chapter Description

in the operating manual.

–The product is not suitable for use in explosion-prone areas!

–The product must not be used for diagnostic or other medical purposes on pa-

tients!

–Not suitable for use with requirements on functional safety, e.g. SIL!

–Do not use in safety / emergency stop devices!

2.3 Safety instructions

CAUTION

Risk of injury at the temperature sensor!

Devices with insertion probes entail the risk of stab injuries due to the pointed probe

design.

There is a risk of burns when measuring in high (and very low) temperatures. Use

gloves if necessary.

NOTE

This device does not belong in children's hands!

NOTE

The device housing is not designed for continuous contact with foods.

For measurements in food in accordance with EC Regulation 1935 / 2004, suitable

temperature probes must be used:

2.4 Intended use

The device is thermometer for type K interchangeable probes.

It is designed, with the appropriate probe, for precise and instantaneous temperature

measurements in the following media:

–Liquids, gases, soft plastic materials, bulk material

–Food

2.5 Qualified personnel

For commissioning, operation and maintenance, the relevant personnel must have

adequate knowledge of the measuring process and the significance of the measure-

ments. The instructions in this document must be understood, observed and followed.

In order to avoid any risks arising from interpretation of the measurements in the

concrete application, the user must have additional expertise. The user is solely liable

for damages/danger resulting from misinterpretation due to inadequate expertise.

3.2 Connections

CAUTION

The device ensures extensive protection against splashing water and rain.

However, immersion in water is not possible due to the socket opening.

–Protect the connector opening / contacts from soiling and moisture!

–Dry damp device and plug connectors as quickly as possible!

4 Operation

4.1 Opening the configuration menu

1. Press the Function button for 2 seconds to open the Configuration menu.

2. (ONF appears in the display. Release the Function button.

Note to D,FF : The adjustable alarm limits continue to refer to the measuring

range limits of the device, which means: negative values can only

be set to a very limited extent!

(Note: if necessary, swapping channel 1 and channel 2 could

help here)
