c) Fit the Resistors
5 resistors re required. Their v lues re etched into the PCB in their required positions. The v lues re bit
h rd to see in the photo, so from the top ( s shown); 330R, 10k, 47R, 47R, & 2k.
Bend the le ds to suit the pitch of the holes
Insert so the resistors re flush
Solder e ch le d ensuring you get good
meniscus round e ch le d on both sides of
the PCB.
Trim the le ds t the other side so th t they
re no higher th n 1mm.
Re son: the N no m y foul nd short on the
le ds if they re too high.
d) Fit the N no Microcontroller.
Insert the N no s shown on the picture t left nd below.
M ke sure the N no is;
( ) fitted with the USB port protruding over the end of the PCB
(b) flush onto the silver side of the PCB
Do Not Solder? YET!
Check th t the trimmed resistor le ds do not foul or short on the underside of
the N no.

Slightly bend out the le ds on the four corners of the N no. This will prevent the
N no from lifting during soldering.\
Solder ll pins nd trim bout 1mm high.
e) Fit the Zener Diodes nd the Mosfet
Zener Diodes, like ll diodes re pol rised, me ning they need to be inserted into
the circuit the right w y round. Note: the zeners re m rked with bl ck line on
one side.
Also note
there re
sm ll d shes
etched into
the PCB
tr ck work.
This is done
so th t the
end of the zener with the line is electric lly
connected to the hole with the d sh.
Bend the zener le ds s shown using the pliers.
The Mosfet h s fl t on it’s
body. Note: the upside down
D etched into the PCB tr ck
work.
The str ight side of the D
m tches the fl t on the
mosfet.
Insert the zeners nd the
mosfet s shown nd solder.
Trim the le ds on the
underside.
Check for the bsence of
solder bridges between the tr ck work nd for dry & ugly solder work. If there re problems fix them now. If OK,
then congr tul tions, you h ve now completed the ssembly of the TACOS WAT-910BD PCB.

sm ll p rcels
cont ining v rious
wiring h rnesses.
Loc te the C mer
Control H rness -
with green, yellow,
blue nd bl ck
conductors.
The wires re supplied w y too long, so trim to bout 80mm long from the connector, strip bout 5mm, twist the
conductor nd solder the ends.
For the ground connection, use some of the
off-cut bl ck conductor cut bout 80mm, strip,
twist nd solder.
Solder the C mer Control H rness nd
Ground Conductor s shown.

c) LEDs
From the off-cuts of the C mer
Control nd Power h rnesses, cut
80mm lengths of red, bl ck, yellow nd
blue conductors. Strip, twist nd solder
both ends.
Trim the Anode (long le d) of the
Green LED to 8mm length, nd solder
the yellow conductor.
Trim the C thode (short le d) of the
Green LED to 8mm length, nd solder
the blue conductor.
Trim the Anode (long le d) of the
Yellow LED to 8mm length, nd solder
the red conductor.
Trim the C thode (short le d) of the
Yellow LED to 8mm length, nd solder
the bl ck conductor.
Fit 3mm he t-shrink tubing to the
nodes s shown.
If you h ve 3 volt button cell h ndy (CR2025 or simil r) you c n test the connections by pplying the red (or
yellow) wire to the + termin l nd the bl ck (or blue) wire to the – termin l, nd the LED should light.
Solder the Green LED to the
PCB. The yellow wire goes
to the top most hole nd the
blue wire goes to the middle
hole.
Solder the bl ck wire of the
Yellow LED to the bottom-
most hole.
Solder the Power H rness
s shown.
- Red wire of the
Power H rness to
the red wire of the
Yellow LED.
- Bl ck wire of the
Power H rness to
the ground wire of
the PCB.
The PCB is now wired. Put
it side.

d) Power Socket nd the reverse pol rity s fety diode.
This step m y be omitted if you re bsolutely cert in th t you c n not possibly pply reverse pol rity supply to
the c mer , when observing t 3 m on cold winter morning when using mittens. (been there, done th t?)
The socket comes with 3 termin ls.
It’s not m nd tory, but I usu lly trim off the one
closest to the body. Don’t use your good clippers,
the wire trimmer in he vy pliers is good enough.
To the termin l
furthest from the
body, solder the
node of the
Diode.
Fit some 4mm he t-shrink tubing to the
diode s shown.
Test
the connections by plugging in
your norm l c mer power supply (12 volt
centre positive) into the socket.
Red wire from multimeter to the free end of the diode, bl ck wire to the rem ining termin l on the socket. The
volt ge should re d + 12volts ( little less due to the volt ge drop cross the diode).
If it re ds -12 volts there is n error - DO NOT USE THIS SOCKET until it is fixed.
4) Housing Assembly
) Fit the c mer to the C mer Mount Pl te
Ensure you h ve screw driver th t is snug fit
in the Philips screw he ds.
A b dly fitting screw driver will e sily round over
the Philips drive nd if you do th t you will enter
world of p in nd suffering in your efforts to
remove the screws without d m ging the
c mer . From experience, the screws re not
excessively tight, so just be c reful.
Hold the c mer by the edges nd void
touching ny conductors.
Remove the four screws s shown.

The TACOS Housing is supplied ssembled, so the Assembler (You) c n see how it ll fits together – by c reful
dis ssembly. T ke c re not to loose ny screws.
Orient the C mer Mount Pl te s shown.
Note:
- the two sockets on the c mer re in the
bottom-left
- the 4 non-t pped holes re to the side.
Insert the four M2x8 countersink screws into the

polymer, but it’s still pl stic.
Just tighten the screws until they re snug.
d) Fit the Power nd BNC video sockets
Insert the BNC socket so th t the
solder t g is e sily ccessible.
You’ll need 10mm nd 13mm
sp nner to tighten the nuts on the
sockets.
Don’t use n djust ble wrench
( .k. . shifter) bec use the
l rger he d size m y well knock
nd d m ge component on the
c mer bo rd.
Just be c reful!
e) Insert the PCB
With the resistors on the outside, nd the N no on the inside,
insert the PCB into the housing by firstly inserting the USB
socket into the hole, then rot te the bottom of the PCB.
Secure the PCB;
- t the top, ne r the USB Socket. with
M2x6 countersunk screw. Note: it is vit l th t
the shorter screw is used to ensure the end
does not foul on the N no microcontroller.
- t the bottom, with M2x10 countersunk screw.
