INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the VTech®Splashtime Submarine!
Press the light up goggles button and scoop water onto the
submarine for fun bathtime play! The water pump continuously
pours water out of the moveable periscope! The submarine features
2 spinning gears, an engine roller, a search ‘’light’’ sprinkler and a
porthole with a floating starfish, providing plenty of bathtime fun for
little one!

WARNING:
All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks,
removable tags, cable ties and packaging screws are not part of this
toy and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
NOTE: Please keep this parent’s guide as it contains important
information.
Please do not aim the periscope towards faces.
PACKAGING LOCK REMOVAL
Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees
anticlockwise.
Pull out the packaging locks.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the back
of the submarine. Use a coin or a
screwdriver to loosen the screw.

3. If used or spent batteries are present, remove these batteries
from the unit by pulling up on one end of each battery.
4. Install 3 new AA batteries following the diagram inside the
battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended
for maximum performance).
5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
6. When closing the battery cover ensure that the screws are
securely tightened. This will avoid any water leakage.

hydride) rechargeable batteries for best performance.
• Useonlybatteriesofthesameorequivalenttypeas
recommended.
• Donotmixdifferenttypesofbatteries:alkaline,standard
(carbon-zinc)orrechargeable(Ni-Cd,Ni-MH),ornewandused
batteries.
• Donotusedamagedbatteries.
• Insertbatterieswiththecorrectpolarity.
• Donotshort-circuitthebatteryterminals.
• Removeexhaustedbatteriesfromthetoy.
• Removebatteriesduringlongperiodsofnon-use.
• Donotdisposeofbatteriesinfire.
• Donotchargenon-rechargeablebatteries.
• Removerechargeablebatteriesfromthetoybeforecharging(if
removable).
• Rechargeablebatteriesareonlytobechargedunderadult
supervision.

Disposal of batteries and product
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and
batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates
they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as
they contain substances that can be damaging to the
environment and human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked,
indicate that the battery contains more than the specified
value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out
inBatteryDirective(2006/66/EC).
The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the
market after 13th August, 2005.

PRODUCT FEATURES
Submarine
1. ON/OFF BUTTON
To turn the submarine ON ( ),
press the ON/OFF BUTTON. To
turn the submarine OFF ( ),
press the ON/OFF BUTTON a
second time.
2. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech®Splashtime Submarine
will automatically power down after approximately 35 seconds
without input. The submarine can be turned on again by pressing
the LIGHT UP GOGGLES BUTTON.

NOTE:Ifthesubmarinepowersdownquickly,wesuggestinstalling
brand new batteries.
WARNINGS:
• Thebatteriesmustbechangedbyanadult.
• Thistoycannotbeusedinsaltwater.
• Afterusingthistoy,donotleaveitinthewaterforalongtime.
• Makesuretoemptythewateroutofallelementsofthetoyand
to rinse them out before drying.
• Thistoycanbeoperatedinwateronlywhenfullyassembledin
accordance with the instructions.
• Thisisnotalifesavingdevice.Donotleaveyourchildunattended
while this VTech®Splashtime Submarine unit is in use.
• Neverleaveachildunattendedorwithanolderchildinthe
bathroom or in the bath, not even for one minute.
• Alwayscheckwithathermometerthetemperatureofthewater
coming from the tap before sitting your child in the bath. Toddlers
have very sensitive skin and can easily get burnt if the water is
too hot.
• Whenclosingthebatterycoverensurethatthescrewissecurely
tightened. This will avoid any water leakage.
• Onlyusethisunitinwaterbetween10and45degrees
centigrade.
• Parentsshoulddrainthewaterfromthespeakerifthevolume
decreases too much.

ACTIVITIES
1. Press the ON/OFF BUTTON to
turn the submarine ON. You will
hear a sound, a phrase and a
song. The light will flash with the
responses.
2. Press the LIGHT UP GOGGLES
BUTTON to hear fun phrases and
songs. When the water pump is in
the water, you will see water come
out from the periscope. The light
will flash with the responses.
3. Use the Boat Scoop to pour water
on the gears, starfish and two
water entry holes for fun water
play.

The periscope can be turned in
different directions to pour water
on the gears and on the starfish.

5. If there is no input after approximately 15 seconds, encouraging
phrases will be played. If there is still no input after another 15
seconds, the submarine will play a short tune and enter sleep
mode. The submarine can be turned on again by pressing the
LIGHT UP GOGGLES BUTTON
.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2.
Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat
source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an
extended period of time.
4. Make sure you empty the water out of all the elements of the
unit and rinse thoroughly before drying, so sediment or cleaning
products are not left on the unit.
5. Make sure to dry all of the elements of the unit before storing.
6. Donotdroptheunitonhardsurfaces.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please
followthesesteps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit sit for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play with
again.
