IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTION
BEFORE USING THIS UNIT, READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS!
Keep this operating manual in a safe place for further use
If the appliance is passed on to a third party, please also include this operating manual
When using electrical equipment, basic precautions should always be taken, including the following:
WARNING
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY:
1. The Smart Air Power GmbH Octaair is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons
with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or with a lack of experience or knowledge,
unless they are supervised or instructed by a person responsible for the use of the equipment to
ensure that they can use the equipment safely.
2. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
3. Do not use in vehicles.
4. Do not operate the unit if the cable or plug is damaged. Dispose of it or send it to an authorised
service centre for inspection and/or repair.
5. If the Octaair does not work as it should or has been damaged, please contact us.
6. Do not place the cable under a carpet. Do not cover the cable with rugs, runners or similar
covers. Lay the cable away from high-traffic areas where no one can trip over it.
7. Switch off the unit before unplugging it. Unplug the appliance from the mains if it is not being
used for a long period of time.
8. Do not pull the plug out of the socket by pulling the cable. To remove the plug, always grasp the
plug and not the cable.
9. Suitable for dry locations only. Do not use on wet surfaces. Do not leave outside in inclement
weather.
10. Do not touch the plug or the unit with wet hands.
11. Do not stretch or tension the cable. Keep the cable away from heated surfaces.
12. Do not insert any objects into the opening or into the ventilation grille.

13. Do not use near stoves, fireplaces, burners or other heat sources.
14. Do not treat the unit with cleaning agents or lubricants. Unplug it before cleaning or performing
maintenance.
15. Do not add any fragrance essence to the water. Only use distilled water.
16. Use only as described in this manual. Do not perform any maintenance work other than that
shown in this manual or recommended by Smart Air Power GmbH’s customer service
department.
17. The use of an extension lead or adapter is not recommended.
18. Only use a plug-in power supply containing the following information:
Output voltage 12V/DC
Output current (min.) 1500 mA
Plug for input socket 5.5mm (outside) 2.1 mm (inside)
Short-circuit and overcharge protection
Observe operating manual for plug-in power supply unit
19. If the fuse (blade-type fuse) has to be replaced, the following must be used:
1A blade-type fuse
20. The water tank must be filled with distilled water. Without water, no operation!

Prior to First Commissioning
- Take the unit out of its packaging and remove all packaging materials.
- Place the appliance on a level surface, e.g. on a table.
- Check the unit for visible damage.
If damage is discovered, it must be reported to us immediately in writing.
Please refer to Service / Warranty
- If there is no visible damage, then follow the further points.
- Carefully open the unit by means of the cylinder lock (only applies to the Octaair)
- Important:
- Check that the water tank is filled with water (always filled at the factory). If it is not filled with
water, do not switch on and call the Smart Air Power GmbH customer service support
- 0041 41 450 10 89.
- The following must be observed at the place of installation:
Avoid direct sunlight
Do not place next to open doors or windows
Do not expose to rain / weather
- Connect the DC plug / coaxial power connector of the plug-in power supply unit to the intended
input socket / DC socket on the unit.
The polarity cannot be changed. The plug has the fixed polarity “inside positive (+), outside
negative (-)”.
- Make sure that the ventilation unit is switched off when you connect it to the mains adapter.
- Plug the power supply unit into a standard household power socket.
- Switch on the ventilation unit.
- First the fan starts, after approx. 3 seconds the water pump starts (for ventilation units with an
additional water circuit/ pump, this is clearly audible at the beginning because of the air in the
circuit).
- To turn off the unit or disconnect it from the power supply, reverse the sequence described
above.

Cleaning and Care
Always switch off the appliance before cleaning and unplug the mains plug from the socket!
- Do not immerse the appliance, power cord or plug in water or other liquids for cleaning. Clean
them with a dry, soft cloth.
- In case of heavy soiling, wipe the outside of the unit carefully with a damp, soft cloth and then
painstakingly dry it.
- Make sure that no moisture gets inside the unit.
- Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, steel brushes, abrasive cleaners or other hard objects
that could scratch the surfaces.
- Never use solvents or benzine as they may damage the housing.
- Once a year with the vacuum cleaner carefully vacuum the accumulated dirt on the ventilation
unit.

Disposal
Old electrical appliances from private households
As a private individual, you have two options for disposing of your unit in an environmentally friendly
manner:
Return your electrical appliance to the point of sale
Take it to a public collection point for old electrical appliances
The disposal of electrical equipment via waste, bulky goods or scrap iron collection, or
through landfilling is prohibited (see symbol).

Service / Warranty
Conditions and provisions of the 5-year warranty provided by Smart Air Power GmbH.
The warranty period commences on the date of purchase
All work is carried out by Smart Air Power GmbH
Replaced parts become the property of Smart Air Power GmbH
Repairs and replacements of a unit during the warranty period do not extend the warranty
The warranty offers benefits, which you receive in addition to your legal rights as a consumer
and which do not affect them
Before we can work on your unit, you must provide us with proof of purchase. Without this
proof, all work carried out must be paid for
Please keep your receipt / proof of purchase
The warranty applies to appliances used in their country of purchase
This warranty is subject to Swiss law
WHAT IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY?
Repair and replacement of the unit if it is found to be defective within 5 years of purchase due to faulty
materials, workmanship or function. If a part is no longer available or no longer manufactured, Smart Air
Power GmbH will exchange it for a functional replacement part.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY?
The warranty expires in the event of damage or modifications to, or improper use of the appliance,
provided that these lie outside the area of responsibility of the warrantor. This applies in particular in
the following cases:
Normal wear and tear
Accidental damage, faults caused by negligent use or care, negligence, improper operation or
handling of the unit not in compliance with the instructions in this manual
Changes to or within the appliance, removal or obliteration of the serial number or nameplate
Use of parts and accessories other than those manufactured and recommended by Smart Air
Power GmbH
Damage caused by external sources, such as transport, weather, power failures or overvoltage
After powder coating, the housing may show minor unevenness or, depending on the colour
selected, fine differences in coating
Intervention, repairs or modifications by unauthorised persons
In the case of damage caused by shocks, falls or external influences
