Thank you for choosing the sE Electronics DM3. We
hope you enjoy using it as much as we’ve enjoyed
designing and building it for you.
The DM3 is an active DI, employing the well-established
DYNAMITE technology of our DM1 and DM2 inline
preamps. Its Ultra Hi-Z input, massive headroom and
dedicated Class-A output-buffer amplifier ensure that
you’ll always get the best out of your instrument. The
DM3 can be directly connected to any Phantom-powered
XLR input, with no need for an extra cable. Its compact
size allows it to easily fit into your pocket, so the sound
quality you're looking for is always at your disposal.
Please note: The DM3 requires +48V Phantom power for
operation.
Ultra Hi-Z input
The DM3’s ultra-high input impedance preserves the
individual sonic character of your instrument without any
compromise. Instruments with passive pickups (i.e.
electric guitars, stringed instruments with piezo pickups,
vintage high-impedance microphones) will especially
benefit from the DM3’s stunningly high input impedance
of 10 MOhms.
Attenuation pad
For high-output instruments (i.e. electric guitars with
active pickups, keyboards, drum machines) a three-
position attenuation switch allows you to reduce the
signal by 15 or 30 dB. This is useful if the signal level is
too high for the input of your preamp or mixer.
Please note: The switch is embedded in a recess to
prevent unintended access; you will need a miniature
screwdriver to change its settings.
Ground lift switch
The DM3 features a dedicated three-position ground lift
switch. In the Off position, the ground lift is deactivated.
If you are experiencing unwanted hum or buzz, a ground
loop might be causing this. Turning the switch to the On
position will break any such loops, greatly reducing
noise.
The switch’s third position engages our innovative new
On+circuitry. The innovative electronic design can help
to reduce unwanted noise, not only in the low-frequency
but also in the in the high-frequency range. This is a great
option if you are still experiencing a hissing sound or
radio frequency interference with the ground lift
engaged. Please be aware that results depend on the
noise source; your individual setup and radio frequency
environment (i.e., cell phone proximity, wireless
broadband services, power supplies, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
devices, transformers). Not all humming or buzzing is
generated by group loops.

Lockable 1/4” input jack
The DM3’s 1/4” input jack has a locking mechanism that
prevents unintended disconnection. This is ideal for both
studio and stage applications.
Powering
To ensure proper operation, your sE product requires a
Phantom power source that provides 48 Volts according
to IEC 61938.
Risk of damage
Do not connect your sE product to any power
supply other than a Phantom power source
(input with Phantom power or external IEC
standard Phantom power supply) with a
floating connector, using a balanced cable with studio-
grade connectors to IEC 268-12 only. This is the only way
to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Please be aware that Phantom power cannot pass
through TRS connectors. A balanced microphone cable
with XLR connectors at both sides is required to provide
Phantom power to a microphone.
Safety and maintenance
Warning
The product may contain small, detachable
parts, which may cause choking, personal
injury, or death, especially in children. Please
exercise care in the use and handling of small parts and
keep them away from children under four years of age.

foreseeable operating conditions.

•The product must be returned to the manufacturer or
destinated vendors for any service or repair.
•Do not disassemble or attempt to service this product.
•This is not a children’s product and is not intended to be
used by children under 14 years old.

enforced in your country and is fitted with a ground lead.

Maintenance is not required for product compliance.
Batteries, electronic and electrical equipment should not
be disposed of with household waste. Wherever

Warranty
sE Electronics warrants that its hardware product shall
be free from defects in materials and workmanship
beginning from the date of original retail purchase.

for any breach of warranty shall entail, at sE Electronics’
option, to repair or replace a functional equivalent of the
