Informationen zum Vorbild
Für den hochwertigen Reisezugverkehr auf Stre-
cken, die noch nicht für eine Achslast von 20 t
ausgebaut waren, wurde ab 1930 die Baureihe
(BR) 03 von der Deutschen Reichsbahn (DR) be-
schafft. Es handelte sich dabei um eine leichtere
Variante der BR 01: Die Zylinder und der Kessel
waren kleiner bemessen, der Barrenrahmen
leichter. Von der 23,9 m langen und 130 km/h
schnellen Lokomotive wurden 298 Exemplare
gebaut.
Im Laufe der Beschaffung wurden einige Ände-
rungen vorgenommen. So sind ab der BR 03
123 die Pumpen in die Fahrzeugmitte verlegt
worden, ab der Nummer 03 163 bekamen die
vorderen Laufräder einen Durchmesser von
1000 mm und die kleinen Bremsbacken an den
Treibrädern wurden durch die großen Sche-
renbremsen ersetzt. Trotz der Entwicklung des
geschweißten Tenders fuhren auch bis in die
Epoche 3 hinein noch mehrere 03 mit genieteten
Tendern.
Bei der Deutschen Bundesbahn (DB) waren
die letzten Lokomotiven noch bis 1973 als BR
003 in Dienst, vor allem auf der „Schwäbischen
Eisenbahn“ von Ulm nach Friedrichshafen.
Information about the Prototype
The class 03 was purchased by the German
State Railroad (DR) starting in 1930 for important
passenger traffic on routes that had not yet been
rebuilt for 20 metric ton axle loads. This locomotive
was a lighter version of the class 01: The cylinders
and the boiler were smaller in their dimensions,
and the sectional frame was lighter in construction.
A total of 298 of this locomotive were built, which
was 23.9 meters / 78 feet 5 inches long and could
run at a maximum speed of 130 km/h / 81 mph.
A number of changes were made to this locomo-
tive class during the course of its procurement.
Starting with road number 03 123 the pumps were
located in the middle of the locomotive, start-
ing with road number 03 163 the front pilot truck
wheels now had a diameter of 1,000 mm / 39-3/8“,
and the small brake shoes on the driving wheels
were replaced by the larger „scissors“ shaped
brakes. Despite the development of the welded
tender, a number of class 03 locomotives operated
well into Era 3 with riveted tenders.
The last of these locomotives were in service on
the German Federal Railroad (DB) until 1973 as the
class 003, chiefly on the „Swabian Railroad“ from
Ulm to Friedrichshafen.

Informations relatives au modèle réel
A partir de 1930, la Deutsche Reichsbahn fit
l’acquisition de la série (BR) 03 pour le trafic
voyageurs haut de gamme sur des lignes n’étant
pas encore aménagées pour une charge par es-
sieu de 20 t. Il s’agissait ici d’une variante légère
de la série BR 01 : Les cylindres et la chaudière
étaient de taille inférieure et le châssis en barres
était plus léger. 298 unités furent construites sur
le modèle de cette locomotive de 23,9 m qui
courrait à une vitesse maximale de 130 km/h.
Quelques modifications furent appliquées
au cours des livraisons : Les pompes furent
déplacées au milieu de l’engin à partir de la BR
03 123, le diamètre des roues porteuses pour
les véhicules à partir du numéro 03 163 passa à
1000 m et les petits segments de frein des roues
motrices furent remplacés par les grands freins
ciseaux. Malgré la conception du tender soudé,
plusieurs 03 circulèrent avec un tender rivé
encore jusqu’à l’époque 3.
La Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) utilisa les derniè-
res de ces locomotives, immatriculées alors BR
003, encore jusqu’en 1973, principalement sur
le « Schwäbische Eisenbahn » (chemin de fer
souabe), entre Ulm et Friedrichshafen.
Informatie over het voorbeeld
Voor het hoogwaardige reizigersverkeer op de
trajecten die gebouwd waren voor een asdruk
van 20 t werd vanaf 1930 de serie (BR 03) door
de Deutschen Reichsbahn aangeschaft. Dit was
een lichtere variant van de BR 01: de cilinders
en de ketel waren kleiner, het barframe lichter
uitgevoerd. Van de 23,9 m lange locomotief met
een maximumsnelheid van 130 km/h werden er
298 exemplaren gebouwd.
Tijdens de aanschafperiode werden enkele
kleine wijzigingen doorgevoerd. Zo zijn vanaf
de BR 03 123 de pompen naar het midden van
de loc verplaatst. Vanaf nummer 03 163 kregen
de voorste loopwielen een doorsnee van 1000
mm en de kleine remblokken op de drijfwielen
werden vervangen door de grote schaarremmen.
Ondanks de ontwikkeling van de gelaste tender
reden tot in tijdperk 3 nog meerdere 03 met een
geklonken tender.
Bij de Deutschen Bundesbahn (DB) waren de
laatste locomotieven nog tot 1973 als BR 003 in
dienst, veelal op de “Schwäbischen Eisenbahn
van Ulm naar Friedrichshafen.

teile bzw. der Umbau für sodann aufgetretene Mängel und/oder
Schäden ursächlich war. Die Darlegungs- und Beweislast dafür,
dass der Einbau von Fremdteilen oder der Umbau in bzw. von
Märklin-Produkten für aufgetretene Mängel und/oder Schäden
nicht ursächlich war, trägt die für den Ein- und/oder Umbau
verantwortliche Person und/oder Firma bzw. der Kunde.
Sicherheitshinweise
• Die Lok darf nur mit einem dafür bestimmten
Betriebssystem (Märklin Wechselstrom-
Transformator 6647, Märklin Delta, Märklin
Digital oder Märklin Systems) eingesetzt
werden.
• Die Lok darf nur aus einer Leistungsquelle
gleichzeitig versorgt werden.
• Beachten Sie unbedingt die Sicherheitshin-
weise in der Gebrauchsanleitung zu Ihrem
Betriebssystem.

operation of this locomotive is described below.
Please see your authorized Märklin dealer for
repairs or spare parts.
No warranty or damage claims shall be accepted in those cases
where parts neither manufactured nor approved by Märklin have
been installed in Märklin products or where Märklin products
have been converted in such a way that the non-Märklin parts
or the conversion were causal to the defects and/or damage
arising. The burden of presenting evidence and the burden of
proof thereof, that the installation of non-Märklin parts or the
conversion in or of Märklin products was not causal to the

Veiligheidsvoorschriften
