Important Notices
»To prevent salt build-up and sticking controls, submerge the
empty housing in clean, freshwater. Operate the controls
several times each while underwater to ush out any residue.
»Never leave a housing in a rinse tank, even if it is the only
system in the tank. Many catastrophic oods happen when the
user walks away from a housing while it is in the rinse tank.
»Do not use alcohol, cleaning agents, spray lubricants, Rain-X,
or other solvents on the housing or lens port. Use of an
incompatible chemical compound can damage the plastic and
o-rings, and may result in leaking.
»Always assemble in a cool, dry location. Opening the housing
in a humid environment will lead to fogging.
»This housing is designed for use with the Canon SX620 HS
camera as shipped by the manufacturer. This housing is not
compatible with any other camera models.

Setting Up Your Camera
Pre-Installation Checklist & Initial Camera Settings
1. Fully charge camera battery.
2. Insert and format an SD card.
3. Set shooting mode to “P” Program and ISO to “200.”
4. Set White Balance to “AWB.” When not using an external strobe,
AWB can still be used, however, for the most consistent colors in
different lighting, use “custom white balance” .
5. Set Light Metering to “Center Weighted Avg.”
6. RAISE camera ash to trigger a Fiber Optic Strobe. CAUTION:
Camera ash CANNOT be raised after camera is closed inside
housing.
7. Set Flash Mode to “ ” when connecting housing to a ber optic
strobe.
8. Set AF Area to the “Center” and AF Frame Size to “Normal.”
9. Set Continuous AF to “ON” and AF-assist Beam to “OFF.”
10. In Flash Settings, set Red-Eye Lamp to “Off.”
11. Set Review Image after shooting to “4 sec”.
12. In Power Saving, set Auto Power Down to “On” and Display Off to
“3 min).”
Recommended initial settings are not ideal for every shooting
situation and should be adjusted as necessary.
Settings not mentioned should be set to the user’s preference.

Setting Up Your Housing
Opening the Housing
1. Thoroughly dry the housing if wet. To reduce the likelihood of
fogging, only open the housing in a cool, dry place. If possible, open
only in an air conditioned room.
2. Depress both latch buttons and rotate the latch away from the
housing.

3. The back of the housing will be compressed by pressure after
taking it underwater or in an airplane. Rotate the latch FULLY to
break the seal of the housing.
4. Lift the latch up and away from housing.
5. Carefully open the housing back and rotate it 180º to the opposite
side of the housing. Do not use metal objects or tools to pry the
back open, as this may damage the o-ring or sealing surface.
Installing the Camera
1. Remove adhesive backing from anti-reection ring. Attach ring to
front of camera lens.
2. Remove any lanyard, neck strap, or accessory attached to the
camera.
3. Pull out any camera control knobs until they stop.

4. Place the camera into the front of the housing with the lens
centered in the lens port.
5. Make sure the camera is sitting at in the housing and ush to the
front support ribs.

Closing the Housing
1. Clean and lightly lubricate the housing o-ring. Use Ikelite lubricant
ONLY. Use only enough lubricant to make the o-ring appear
uniformly shiny. Lubricant is not a sealant. Excessive lubricant may
attract debris and adversely affect the seal.
2. Rotate the housing back 180º until it meets the front.
3. Latch the housing back and press the latch towards the housing
until the lock buttons click into place.
4. Check the latch. The buttons will not be depressed when the latch
is properly locked. Pulling on the latch without pressing the buttons
should not allow the latch to open.

Setting Up An External Strobe
About the Built-In Flash
Due to the opaque housing design, the internal “built-in” ash can
only be used to trigger external ber optic strobes. To shoot ash
photography underwater, an external strobe must be connected to
the housing and then triggered by a ber optic cord. The camera ash
must be RAISED and activated in order to re an external strobe.
We recommend attaching an external strobe for optimal color and
clarity in a wide variety of shooting situations, including daylight
photography.
Attaching a Fiber Optic Cord
1. Check the end of the ber optic cord to ensure that it is clean and
smooth.
2. Ensure that the ber optic cord o-ring is in place. This o-ring does
not provide waterproong, however, it does keep the ber optic cord
in place.
