VA Virtual Front Panel Commands

HP15 Firmware Release

April, 2002

Command Function

help Displays a description of each command.

setup Performs Virtual Front Panel configuration.

dsp Displays subsystem status.

cfg Performs subsystem configuration (LUN creation).

mgr Performs subsystem management operations.

fmt Performs an subsystem format.

rbld Performs rebuild operations.

recover Performs NVRAM recovery operations.

secure Performs security operations.

log Displays Logs

scsi Performs scsi command for provided cdb.

Usage Notes

To maintain consistency with earlier versions of the VFP, all commands can be prefaced with "vfp".

For help with a specific command, use the -? Option. For example, setup -?

For command recall, type “<” or “>”.

Command Options and Arguments Description

setup -e {on | off}

-r <value>

-c <value>

-b <int>

-e: Sets character echo

-r: Sets the number of rows:

<value>: range 5 – 1000

-c: Sets the number of columns:

<value>: ranger 40 - 8000

-b: Sets baud rate

<int> : 0, 1, 2, or 3

for 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600

Note: A firmware reset will restore the

default value of 9600.

dsp dsp (no argument follows)

-c [m/c1 | m/c2]

-d [fruLocation]

-L [LUN ID]

-s

-e

-f

Displays general information about the

subsystem.

-c: display controller information:

m/c1: controller 1, m/c2 controller 2

-d: display drive information:

[fruLocation] m/d#

-L: display LUN information (default for

all existing luns).

[LUN ID]: specify a requested LunID

-s: display subsystem settings

-e: enclosure information

-f: list of discovered FRUs

cfg cfg -L <LUN ID> -a <capacity> [{G|g}|{K|k}] –g <RG Id>

To Create a LUN requires three

parameters, LUN ID, capacity and RD

Id.

-L <LUN ID>: specify LUN ID to be

created.

-a <capacity>: specify LUN capacity.

Capacity is default to MB.

If followed by ‘K’ or ‘k’, the capacity is in

kilobytes and must be a multiple of

512.

If followed by ‘G’ or ‘g’, the capacity is in

gigabytes.

-g <RG ID>: redundancy group id. For

VA 7100 set to 1, for VA 7400 set to 1

or 2.

For valid number of LUNs to create,

check dsp –s for CREATE LUN LIMIT.

cfg -L <LUN ID> -d -L followed by –d: deletes LUN, no

need to specify capacity, just LUN ID.

mgr -s {shut | start}

-R {full | partial}

-L <loop id> -c {1|2}

-t {1 | 2 | 4} –c {1|2}

-S {1 | 2} –c {1 | 2}

-os {hpux | nt | win2k | linux | solaris | aix | netware |

generic | tru64 | openVMS | mpe | solarisCluster} –c {1 | 2}

-B {autoraid | raid1}

-O { on | off }

-q <queue full threshold>

-ds { on | off }

-p {on | off }

-V <Revision>

-s: Shutdown or restart the disk array

-R: Reset the disk array

-L: Set the FC Port Loop ID for the

Controller Port.

-t: Set the topology for the Controller

Port. Valid Arguments:

1- Private Topology

2 - Public Topology

4- Direct Fabric Attached Topology.

-S: Set the FC Port Speed for the

Controller Port.

Valid Arguments:

1- 1 GBit/sec Data Rate

2- 2 GBit/sec Data Rate

-c: Controller for which the port speed

will be set.

-os: Set Host behavior for controller

specified.

-c: Controller for which the host

behavior will be set.

-B: sets array RAID level (AutoRaid |

RAID 1).

-O: set enable optimize policy on/off.

-q: set queue full threshold ( 0 to 4096)

-ds: set disable secondary path

presentation

The -ds option determines whether the

array makes the non-optimal path to

LUNs visible to hosts. When set to ON,

secondary path presentation is enabled

and all LUNs are “visible” through all

ports on all controllers. When set to

OFF, each LUN will be “visible” only on

the controller that is the optimal

controller for that LUN. The optimal

controller is the one associated with the

redundancy group of which the LUN is a

part.

-p: Enable/disable prefetch.

-V: Set volume set revision. Valid

arguments:

1 – For HP01, HP02, HP11, HP13

2 – For HP14, HP15 and greater

fmt No options Perform array format (will destroy all

user data). User will be prompted with a

yes/no. The word ‘yes’ must be

entered completely. Otherwise the

format command will be canceled.

rbld -p

-a {on | off}

-p: Displays status/progress of a

subsystem rebuild.

-a: enables or disables autorebuild

recover No options

-s

Perform a recover process. Will ask for

user’s verification to proceed.

-s: returns the recoverability status or

the disk array, as well as the status of

the recovery progress.

secure -R

-e

-d

-R: Resets the password to AUTORAID.

-e: enables security.

-d: disables security.

log No options

-p <number of most recent events to display>

The log command ignores the row settings. If row setting

is less than 25, log command will set it to 25. In any case,

the row setting will be ignored when dispalying logs.

No options displays all events in buffer.

-p: display a given number of most

recent events.

scsi -cdb <cdblen> <cdb bytes…> <direction> [ -cdbcrc <cdb

crc>]

[ -lun <lunId> ]

[ -data <data len> <data bytes…> [ -datacrc <data crc> ] ]

direction can be: nodata | datain |

dataout
