Congratulations on your purchase of the revolutionary GERBER EDGE. With
the EDGE®, you now have the ability to print computer-generated images on
vinyl and other materials. The EDGE prints jobs containing:

Because a job can incorporate characters, shapes, scanned images, and clip art to
create a design, the EDGE opens up a wide array of possibilities for your
customers and your business.

Provided separately with the EDGE is the bulletin Unpacking and Repacking to
Prevent Damage. Please refer to this bulletin for complete instructions on either
unpacking your EDGE or repacking it for shipment.

Setting up the EDGE
Follow these guidelines when setting up the EDGE:
Use the GSP-approved printer cable provided with the EDGE.
Press the cable connectors firmly into place, and then tighten each
thumbscrew one turn at a time until the connectors are completely seated.
Connect the printer cable from computer printer port LPT2 or LPT3 to the
EDGE. Do not connect the EDGE to LPT1 through the security block.
Do not connect any other printer, device, or switch box to the printer port
you select. The EDGE may not print or the print quality may be unacceptable
if you do.
Ensure that the checksum of the EDGE matches the release level of the
Gerber software. For additional information, refer to the “Setup menu”
paragraph on page 39.
The power switch and power cord receptacle are located on the right side of the
EDGE. The parallel printer connector is located on the back of the EDGE.
To connect the EDGE to the computer
1. Use the printer cable to connect the EDGE to computer printer port LPT2 or
LPT3.
2. Plug the power cord into the power cord receptacle.
3. Plug in and turn on the EDGE first, then the computer.
You must add the GERBER EDGE to the GRAPHIX ADVANTAGE GA Plot program or the
OMEGA™ GSPPlot program before you can send a job to it.
