Function and application

The mechanical vacuum switch VPEV-

1/8 opens or closes an electrical circuit

when a specified vacuum is reached at

the vacuum connection (changeover

switch). The increase in the vacuum

presses a diaphragm against a spring.

The deflection depends on the set initial

tension of the spring. When the maxi-

mum set deflection of the diaphragm is

reached, a microswitch is actuated. This

switch opens or closes the electrical

contacts.

The switching point and the switching

difference (hysteresis) can be set inde-

pendently of each other.

The VPEV-1/8 has been designed for

generating monitoring signals for con-

trollers on systems using vacuum.

Funktion und Anwendung

Der mechanische Vakuumschalter

VPEV-1/8 öffnet oder schließt einen

elektrischen Stromkreis beim Erreichen

eines bestimmten Vakuums am Vakuu-

manschluß (Wechsler). Durch das An-

steigen des Vakuums wird eine Mem-

bran gegen eine Feder gedrückt. Die

Auslenkung hängt von der einstellbaren

Federvorspannung ab. Bei Erreichen

der eingestellten Grenzauslenkung der

Membran wird ein Mikroschalter betä-

tigt, der die elektrischen Kontakte

schließt bzw. öffnet.

Der Schaltpunkt und die Schaltdifferenz

(Hysterese) können unabhängig vonein-

ander eingestellt werden.

Der VPEV-1/8 wird bestimmungsgemäß

eingesetzt zur Erzeugung von Überwa-

chungssignalen für Steuerungen an va-

kuumführenden Anlagen.

•Stellen Sie sicher, daß die Kabel fol-

gendermaßen verlegt sind:

- quetschfrei

- knickfrei

- dehnungsfrei.

•Befestigen Sie die Winkeldose so,

daß sich pneumatische und elektri-

sche Kabel möglichst nicht kreuzen.

Andernfalls ist ein möglichst kleiner

Schlauchdurchmesser zu verwenden

(z.B. PU 4).

Inbetriebnahme

Zur Schaltpunkteinstellung

•Beachten Sie, daß die Einstellschrau-

nur beim Drehen im Gegenuhr-

zeigersinn einen Anschlag besitzt.

•Make sure that the cables are:

- not squashed

- not bent

- not stretched.

•Fasten the angle connector so that

the pneumatic and electrical cables

do not cross each other.

Otherwise, tubing with a smaller

diameter must be used (e.g. PU 4).

Commissioning

•Verkabeln Sie die elektrischen An-

schlüsse 1 und 2 des VPEV-1/8 mit

einem Durchgangsprüfer.

•Vollziehen Sie folgende Schritte:

1. Entfernen Sie die Schutzkappe

2. Drehen Sie die Einstellelemente

wie folgt:

- Einstellschraube

im Gegenuhr-

zeigersinn bis zum Anschlag (Ein-

stellung für minimalen Schaltpunkt)

- Einstellbolzen

(SW11) im

Uhrzeigersinn bis zum Anschlag

(Einstellung für max. Hysterese).

3. Beaufschlagen Sie den VPEV-1/8

mit dem gewünschten unteren Schalt-

vakuum (z. B. - 0,5 bar).

Dazu ist ein Kontrollmanometer

erforderlich.

Der Durchgangsprüfer reagiert nicht.

•Insert a continuity tester in the circuit

between connections 1 and 2 of the

VPEV-1/8.

•Proceed as follows:

1. Remove the protective cap

2. Turn the adjusting elements as follows:

- adjusting screw

in an anti-clock-

wise direction until the stop is

reached (setting for minimum

switching point)

- adjusting bolt

(A/F 11) in a

clockwise direction until the stop

is reached (setting for maximum

hysteresis).

3. Apply the desired lower switching

vacuum (e.g. - 0.5 bar) to the

VPEV-1/8.

You must use a test manometer for

this purpose.

The continuity tester does not react.

9808a D/GB 8

4. Drehen Sie die Einstellschraube

im Uhrzeigersinn soweit, bis der Durch-

gangsprüfer reagiert (gewünschtes un-

teres Schaltvakuum erreicht).

Zur Hystereseeinstellung:

5. Beaufschlagen Sie den VPEV-1/8 mit

dem gewünschten oberen Schaltvaku-

um vo(z. B. - 0,70 bar, vo = vu+ Hy)

Die minimal und maximal einstellbare

Hysterese ist in Bild 10 dargestellt.

Der Durchgangsprüfer bleibt unverän-

dert.

6. Drehen Sie den Einstellbolzen

Gegenuhrzeigersinn bis der Durch-

gangsprüfer zurücksetzt.

Bei Bedarf einer Schaltpunktkorrektur:

7. Wiederholen Sie die nachfolgenden

Schritte, bis oberes und unteres

Schaltvakuum eingestellt sind:

- zuerst unteres Schaltvakuum mit der

Einstellschraube

, dann

- oberes Schaltvakuum mit dem

Einstellbolzen

Dadurch präzisieren Sie schrittweise

Schaltpunkt und Hysterese.

4. Turn adjusting screw

in a clockwise

direction until the continuity tester

reacts (the desired lower switching

vacuum is then set).

Setting the hysteresis

5. Apply the desired upper switching

vacuum vo(e.g. - 0.70 bar,

vo= vu+ Hy) to the VPEV-1/8. The

minimum and maximum hysteresis

that can be set is represented in Fig. 10.

The continuity tester does not react.

6. Turn adjusting bolt

in an anti-clock-

wise direction until the continuity tester

no longer reacts.

If the switching points have to be

changed:

7. Repeat the following steps until the upper

and lower switching vacuum are set.

- at first the lower switching vacuum

with adjusting screw

, then

- upper switching vacuum with

adjusting bolt

In this way you can accurately set the

switching point and the hysteresis step

by step.

Bedienung und Betrieb

Bei Schwankungen der Mediumstempe-

ratur:

•Beachten Sie, daß der Schaltpunkt

geringfügig beeinflußt wird.

Bei Mediumstemperatur kleiner 1°C:

•Vermeiden Sie, daß der Taupunkt er-

reicht wird.

Bei Erreichen des Taupunkts vereist

die Membrane. Dadurch ändern sich

die Kennwerte des Vakuumschalters.

Abhilfe:

getrocknete Druckluft bei der

Vakuumerzeugung verwenden.

Operation

Please note that if there are fluctuations

in the medium temperature:

•the switching point will be slightly

affected.

If the medium temperature is less than

1°C:

•avoid the dew point being reached.

If the dew point is reached, ice will

form on the diaphragm.

The characteristic values of the

vacuum switch will then be changed.

Remedy:

Use dried compressed air to

generate vacuum.
