GSM/PSTN interface simulates an analog linewhere

Thanks to GSM/PSTN interface an analog telephone

2 INSTALLATION
For a correct installation, turn the device off and read the following instructions.

Communicator
1. Connect the GSM antenna found in the package to the SMA connector.
In case the interface is installed in combination with an alarm system station, install
the antenna at least 1,5 meters from the alarm system station itself.
2. Insert the SIM Card into the SIM holder. Be sure the SIM is inserted in the correct way being
careful of the SIM corner, so that the golden contacts are placed downwards.
3. Connect the Communicator to one of the TEL1 / TEL2 connector present on the back side. The
2 connectors are connected together so there is no difference between the two ports.
4. Connect the power supply and turn GSM/PSTN interface on using the switch.
2.1 FIRST POWER ON
After few seconds of the power on, at the end of the self test, you can see one of the following
situations.
LED Regular situation PIN required Roaming / Virtual operator

1 GSM signal level.

Regular situation: CheckthegoodGSMsignallevelinordertocallandreceivethe
voicecall(GSMledONorBlinking).
PIN required: digitthePINcode,describedinthefollowingparagraphs.

2.2 OUTGOING CALL
Hookoffthephone,waitforthedialtone,thendigitthephonenumber.
AfterthelastdigitGSM/PSTNinterfacewaitsfor5secondsbeforedialingthephonenumber;the
“#”hashbuttoninformsGSM/PSTNinterfacethatthephonenumberiscomplete,anditcangoon
withthecall.
2.3 INSERT THE PIN CODE
IftheprotectionPINcodeoftheSIMcardisenabledandthePINhasnotbeensetinthegateway,
the Status led is ON and the PIN code request is transmitted to the phone line (double beep
repeatedwithashortpause).
InsertthePINcodeusingthephonekeypad(setDTMFselection)connectedtotheTEL1orTEL2
ports:
1. Hookoffthephone,youhearthePINcoderequesttone.
2. EnterthePINCodeusingthephonekeypad(usingaDTMFphone)andconfirmbypressingthe
“#”(hash)button.
PIN code# (i.e. 0123#)
3. TocancelthewrongPINcode,hangupbeforesendingthe“#”(hash)button.
4. IfthePINcodeiscorrectyouwillheartheconfigurationtone(continuoustonerepeatedtwice).
5. HookonthephoneandwaitfordetectionoftheGSMnetwork.
6. IfthePINcodeiswrongyouwillhearthewrongconfigurationtone(singlelongtone).
ATTENTION: PIN and PUK codes are present on PIN-PUK card provided by GSM
Operator when you buy the SIM card. Please note that you have 3 possibilities to
enter the right PIN code. If insertion fails, you must insert the PUK code and a new
PIN code.
If you write a wrong PUK code 10 times, the SIM card will be blocked.
ThePINcodeisautomaticallystoredintoGSM/PSTNinterfaceanditwillbeusedwhennecessary.
IftheSIMcardisremovedorstolenthenyoumustnewlyinsertthePINcodemanually.
TodeletethePINcodefromdevicememory,enter#*99#codeusingthephonekeypadconnected
to TEL1 or TEL2 connector.
CheckthegoodlevelofGSMsignalandeventuallytrytoimproveitbyplacingtheantennaina
different position.

2.4 INSERT THE PUK CODE
TherequestforPUKcodeissignalledwithadifferentspecialtonewithrespecttothePINtone
request(doublebeeprepeatedwithnopause).
InsertthePUKcodeusingthephonekeypad(setDTMFselection)connectedtotheTEL1orTEL2
port:
1. Hookoffthephone,youhearthePUKcoderequesttone(doublebeepwithnopause).
2. EnterthePUKcodeusingthephonekeypad(usingaDTMFphone)andconfirmbypressing
the“#”(hash)button,followedbyanewPINcodewith4digits,thenpress“#”again.
PUK code#PIN code# (i.e. 12345678#1234#)
3. TocancelthewrongPUKcode,hangupbeforesendingthefirst“#”(hash)button.
4. If the PUK code is correct you will hear the configuration tone (continuous tone repeated
twice).
5. HookonthephoneandwaitfordetectiontotheGSMnetwork.
6. IfthePUKcodeiswrongyouwillhearthewrongconfigurationtone(singlelongtone).
2.5 ROAMING CALLS
InfactoryconfigurationtheGSM/PSTNinterfacedetectsautomaticallytheGSMoperator.Ifthe
deviceisinstalledneartheStateboundaries,itcoulddetectstheforeignGSMoperator,andthe
tariffcouldbehigherduringthevoiceconversations.
Toadvisetheuserofthisparticularsituation,ifinroamingphase,onthedeviceallthethreeleds
willblinksimultaneously,andtheoutgoingcallsareforbidden:theuserwillhearinthephonea
singlecontinuoustoneforfewseconds.
ThesamesituationcouldbepresentalsofarfromStateboundariesbutusingaSIMcardofVirtual
GSMOperator:inthiscasethetariffremainthesame.
Toenablethedeviceforoutgoingcallsinthesesituationsitisnecessaryinsertacodeusingthe
phonekeypad(setDTMFselection)connectedtotheTEL1orTEL2ports.
