Reporting problems

If you find a problem with the AssayMAP Bravo Platform, contact Agilent Technical

Support. For contact information, go to https://www.agilent.com/en/contact-us/page.

To report problems with… Have the following information ready

Hardware •Instrument serial number from the Bravo serial

number label

•Short description of the problem

Software •Instrument serial number from the Bravo serial

number label

•Short description of the problem

•Relevant software version number (for example,

automation control software, diagnostics software,

and firmware)

•Error message text (or screen capture of the error

message dialog box)

•Relevant files, such as log files

AssayMAP Cartridges •Cartridge type

•Lot number

•Short description of the problem

2 Common startup error messages

This chapter describes error messages that you may encounter when starting up

the AssayMAP Bravo Platform.

The error messages are:

•“Unable to communicate with the device” on page 2

•“There appears to be a plate present” on page 4

•“Verify that it is safe to home the W-axis” on page 5

•“Accessory startup errors” on page 6

If you cannot resolve an error message using the following procedures, see

“Reporting problems” on page viii.

IMPORTANT

Always use the System Startup utility when you first start up the AssayMAP Bravo

Platform and before you run an application or utility after running the System

Shutdown protocol.

Unable to communicate with the device

Startup error message

The Unable to communicate with the device message or similar message may appear

when you attempt to initialize the AssayMAP Bravo Platform.

Resolving the error

Possible causes Recommended actions

The Bravo device is not

turned on.

1If the AssayMAP Bravo is not turned on (indicator light in not on), turn on

the AssayMAP Bravo power switch and turn on all the accessories.

Note: If the AssayMAP Bravo device does not turn on, see the

troubleshooting section of the Bravo Platform User Guide.

2Click Retry.

The communication cable is

damaged or not connected

properly.

1Verify that the Ethernet cable is in good condition. If necessary, reconnect

the Ethernet cable at the computer and the AssayMAP Bravo device.

2At the computer connection, check that the link light next to the Ethernet

cable connector is lit green, and then click Retry.

The LAN connection is

interrupted.

1Click Abort. Close the Protein Sample Prep Workbench and the VWorks

software.

2Power cycle the AssayMAP Bravo device by turning it off and turning it on

again.

3Open the Protein Sample Prep Workbench and run the System Startup

utility again.
