The PowerBank 1 is one of the finest surge protection power devices avail-
able. It features the security of surge protection without any of the
performance drawbacks normally associated with surge protectors. Your
new P1 has a high current, grounded outlet. The P1 can be used with stand-
alone unprotected electronics or to add additional noise filtration and surge
protection to an older Transparent power product.Transparent power prod-
ucts effectively isolate components, remove line noise and modulation dis-
tortion, and suppress spikes and surges without the use of transformers,
chokes or other series filtering devices which limit current capacity and add
distortions. These unique products are the most transparent way to clean up
the power going into your high end audio and video components for cleaner
sound and picture coming out.
All Transparent products have a limited two year warranty on parts and
labor. This warranty is extendable to five years to the original owner. To
extend your warranty to five years, please fill out the enclosed warranty card
and return to Transparent.
WARNING
The PowerBank 1 must be used with the correct voltage to avoid damage
to the unit and
associated equipment. The operating voltage is marked on the
electrical rating sticker on the bottom of the unit. Please read the instruction
manual carefully before operating your PowerBank 1.
Do not operate this product with any portion of the chassis open or removed.
Dangerous voltages may be encountered. There are no user serviceable parts
inside. To reduce the risk of electric shock or fire do not expose the Power-
Bank 1 to water or moisture.
INSTRUCTIONS AND NOTES
1Before plugging in the P1, be sure that it has the correct voltage for your applica-
tion. The voltage is marked on the label on the back of the P1. Use of the P1 with the
incorrect voltage can result in an unsafe condition and cause damage to the unit and
your equipment.
Damage resulting from the use of the unit with improper voltage
is not covered by the warranty.
2To be covered by the Connected Equipment Warranty, all system components
must be plugged into a Transparent PowerBank or PowerIsolator (with surge pro-
tection), and any incoming source lines (such as CATV, satellite, antennas, phone,
network, etc.) must also be protected by a Transparent MultiSource Protector.
3Connect the P1 directly to a grounded wall outlet by inserting one end of the
power cord into the P1’s IEC socket, and plugging the other end of the cord into the
wall outlet. The PowerBank 1 must be plugged into a grounded wall outlet to be cov-
ered bythe Transparent Audio Connected Equipment Warranty (see back page). Most
3-prong AC outlets are grounded but there are many exceptions, especially in older
homes. If the P1 is plugged into a non-grounded or polarity-reversed outlet, the red
LED labeled LINE FAULTwill illuminate.Use of the P1 in a non-grounded outlet
will void the Connected Equipment Warranty and will reduce the level of surge pro-
tection to your components. Contact an electrician to haveagrounded outlet installed
for your system.
4The green POWER ON LED will illuminate whenever the P1 is plugged into an
activewall outlet.
5The outlet on the P1 provides surge protection for your component. This circuitry
does not add distortions or limit current to your component.
6The green PROTECTIONACTIVE LED indicates that the surge protection
circuitryis functioning properly. The LED will illuminate whenever the power switch
is turned on and the P1 is plugged into an active wall outlet. If the green LED does
not illuminate discontinue use of the P1 and contact your Transparent dealer or
Transparent Audio.
73-to-2 prong ground-lift adaptors or “cheater plugs” are often used to defeat
undesirable ground loops. Do not use these devices between the P1 and the wall
outlet. Defeating the ground will void the Connected Equipment Warranty. If such
adaptors arenecessaryto prevent hum, use them only on the power cord of the
component causing the hum at the point whereit plugs into the P1.
This LED indicates
that your surge
protection is active.
(In normal circum-
stances this green
LED is always on.)
This LED indicates
that power is on.
(In normal circum-
stances this green
LED is always on.)
If this red LED glows,
it indicates that there
is a problem with
your line.You should
immediately discon-
nect your equipment
(and the P1) until you
discover the source
of the problem. (In
normal circumstances
this red LED is off.)
