HEPA Air Scrubber

(HEPAPro AS800)

The HEPAPro AS800 is a compact, portable HEPA Air Scrubber for abatement, resto-

ration, and construction projects. It is commercial, yet lightweight machine that is

easy to carry, transport and store. The unit has a 22”x 24” footprint, stands only 14”

tall and weighs less than 35 lbs.

HEPAPro AS800 oers variable airow, up to 800 CFM, that can be directed both

vertically or horizontally. It accepts a 16”inlet ex duct and a 10”lay at outlet duct.

The unit operates at less than two amps of power. It is capable of providing 4 air

changes per hour (the recommended minimum) in a 7500 cubic foot room (more

than a 30’ x 30’x 8’).

This HEPA air scrubber oers a 2-stage lter design including a tested and certied

HEPA lter and pleated pre-lter. An optional carbon/potassium permanganate

lter is available to absorb a wide range of odors and gases.

Electrical Requirements

HEPAProAS800shouldbepluggedintoagrounded15ampcircuit.Unitdrawsabout2ampswithcleanltersandno

ducting.Theampdrawwilldecreaseslightlywithaddedductingandastheltersloadwithparticulate.Duetothepres-

enceofGFCIreceptacle,theHEPAProAS800mustbepluggeddirectlyintoawalloutlet.Noextensioncordsshouldbe

used.

Air Ducting

If area to be ltered is dicult to access, congested or the air scrubber cannot be located within, air can be ducted to the

unit’s inlet. A round 16” diameter exible duct can be attached to the unit inlet. It connects by placing the wire in the

ductovertheductcollarlipatonelocationandworkingoveritoverthelipgradually.

Outlet Ducting

A detachable trapezoid shaped exhaust ring is supplied that will allow 10” round lay-at plastic duct to be attached to

the exhaust outlet. To attach ducting to the collar, remove the ring from the unit by pressing release tab at the top of the

grill. Put the plastic duct end through the inside of the ring. Roll the duct end outward so that it over-laps the outside of

Negative Air Ducting

HEPAPro AS800 can be used to lter and exhaust air from an enclosed containment area. When exhausting air outside

the containment area, the air inside the containment area must be under slight negative pressure. This will help prevent

airborne particles from leaving the containment area, because negative pressure will draw air in through openings in

the space’s exterior surfaces.

Ducting

Power/Speed Control

The power/speed switch is located on the control panel. It powers the motor and impeller fan. Occasionally the impeller fan may

not start on the low speed setting. If this occurs, rotate the speed control to high speed until the impeller fan starts, then adjust it

to a lower speed.

Resettable Circuit Breaker:

The12AMPthermal,resettablecircuitbreakerprotectstheunitanddevicesconnectedtoitsduplexGFCIoutlet.Thecircuitbreak-

erisdesignedtosensethetotalcurrentdrawthroughthecircuit.Thecircuitbreaker“trips”whenmorethan12ampsofelectrical

currentaredrawnthroughthedevice’spowercord.Shouldanoverloadconditionoccur,theon-boardcircuitbreakerpreventsa

triptoaremotepowerjunctionbox.IMPORTANT:TotalamperageoftheHEPAProAS800,plusalldevicespluggedintotherecep-

taclemustnotexceed12amps.Thecircuitbreakerwillnotallowforloadsinexcessof12amps.

GFCI Protection and the On-Board Outlet:

ThestandardACvoltageoutletwithGFCI(GroundFaultCircuitInterrupter)protectstheoperatorinwetapplications.GFCIdevices

tripwhenafaulttoelectrical“ground”issensed.ItisrecommendedtochecktheGFCIprotectionpriortooperation.Tocheck,

pushthe“TEST”buttonlocatedontheGFCIduplexoutlet.Ifoperatingproperlythe“RESET”buttonontheGFCIoutletwillpop

out.AtrippedGFCIisindicatedbyasmallLED.Thedevicecanonlybe“RESET”whentheunitisconnectedtoawalloutletprovid-

ing standard voltage. This duplex AC outlet allows the inter-connection of other AC powered devices. The sum total amperage of

all devices plugged into the receptacle must not exceed 10 amps.

Air Filters

The HEPAPro AS800 is equipped with two lters that progressively lter out smaller particles. An optional activated carbon/potas-

siumpermanganateltercanbealsoadded.Theseltersmustbecheckedregularly.Operatingtheunitwithdirtylterswillreduce

the airow, and possibly cause harm to the unit. The unit can be run indenitely with dirty lters. The two standard lters used are

listedbelow(asinstalledintheunitfromtoptobottom):A.25to30%ecient(perASHRAE52.1-1992),MERV-7,pleatedfabric

pre-lter.

Filter Replacement

Warranty

Whenamber“lterchangelight”illuminates,itistimetoreplaceoneorbothl-

ters. Remove all ducting and run the air scrubber on high speed. If the lter light

remains lit; replace the pre-lter and run on high again. If the light remains illumi-

nated, it is time to replace the HEPA lter.

The life of the optional Activated Carbon/Potassium Permanganate Filters depend

on the hours used and the level of contaminants recovered. The activated carbon

removes the heavier volatile organics while the potassium permanganate removes

lowermolecularweightcontaminantssuchassmokeodorspresentafterredam-

age. An advantage of the blended media versus activated carbon only is that part

ofthe blendchangescolorasit loadsup withcontaminants.Itstarts outblack,

thenturnspink,thenbrown,andnallywhite.Itisbestchangedwhenitpasses

the brown stage and begins to turn white. It has lost most of its eectiveness at

that point.

HEPAPro AS800 is warrantied for one year and includes the housing, motor, fan and other electrical components. The power cord is

SterlingNorthAmericaLLCoersalimitedwarrantytotheoriginalpurchaserofthisproduct(the“Fan”)againstany

defectinmaterialsandworkmanshipasfollows:Fortherstyearfromthedateofpurchase,Sterlingatitsoption,will

replace or repair Fan without charge to the customer. Any repair or replacement of the Fan will be warranted only for

thebalanceoftheoriginalwarrantyperiodorninety(90)days,whicheverisgreater.Thefollowingwillvoidand/orare

notcoveredunderthislimitedwarranty:a)damagecausedbyimproperuse;b)operationoftheFanforanyreasonnot

authorized by Sterling; c) cosmetic damage or any damage caused by misuse, improper maintenance, connection to

impropervoltagesupply,accidents,actsofGod,abuse,negligence,damagecausedduringshipping,modicationsor

attempted repair by anyone other than Sterling; or d) alteration or removal of factory-applied serial number.

The obligations of Sterling herein are granted in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not

limited to, the warranties of merchantability of tness for a particular purpose. The remedy provided in this warranty is

exclusive and is granted in lieu of all other remedies. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied war-

ranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

In no event will Sterling be liable for loss of use of the product, loss of prots, direct damages, indirect damages, conse-

quential damages, and/or incidental damages by reason of injury to any person, due to any defect or the malfunction of

Fan or any part(s) thereof, or for any other reason. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or

consequential damages so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

This warranty gives you specic, legal rights, and you may also have rights, which vary from state to state. Purchaser’s

acceptance of the Fan and use thereof constitutes acceptance of these terms.
