SIMNET - NETWORK COMPONENTS
SimNet (Simrad Intelligent Marine Network) a complete intelligent network system
for easy installation and integration of Simrad marine electronics.
• Based on CAN bus / NMEA2000
• Up to 50 products in one system
• Signal rate 250 kbit/sec - 50 times faster than NMEA0183
• Maximum total SimNet cable length: 150 meters.
• Maximum current: 5 Amps
• Automatic source selection
• 2x2 twisted pair (Data pair 0.24 mm2; Power pair 0.5 mm2)
• Thin cables with small 9 mm plugs
• Watertight: IP66
SimNet must be powered with 12 V power supply

SIMNET - NETWORK COMPONENTS
Devices
Device with integrated SimNet
cable. For a shunt in the network
(eg: RC42, RF25) - The cable
must not be lengthened or short-
ened.
Device with one SimNet connec-
tor (eg: NSS). For a shunt in the
network - Use SimNet drop cable
(6 m Max).
Device with two SimNet connec-
tors (eg: IS20 Instruments). For a
series connection in the network
(Daisy Chain) - Use SimNet drop
cable (6 m Max).
Device fitted with a Micro-C con-
nector (eg: DST800, NSS). For a
shunt in the network - Supplied
with an adapter cable SimNet /
Micro-C.
NMEA0183 device (eg: RS25).
For a shunt in the network with the
AT10 converter.

SIMNET - RULES
To make the SimNet backbone operative it must be termi-
nated at each end (impedance: 60 Ώ). The wind vane is
fitted with an internal terminator.
Do not cut the SimNet cables. The 9 mm diameter connec-
tors are designed to go through the deck.
Bad, or non conform connections will result in network
instability.
12V DC
Max: 6 m
Sensor with integrated cables (eg: compass, rudder)
have a defined length (≈5 m)
They must not be shortened,
or lengthened.
Avoid long drop cables (max 6 m) and multi derivation installations.
Failure to follow these rules will result in network instability.
