1. DEVICE DESCRIPTION
1.1 Congratulations!
With this stethoscope, you have just purchased a precise and simultaneously
robust device.
seca has used its technical expertise in the service of health care for more than
170 years and, as a market leader, has always set standards worldwide with its
innovative developments.
1.2 Intended use
seca stethoscopes are used primarily by doctors and trained sta to auscultate
various organs such as the heart, lungs and intestines, together with the arteries,
to assess sounds. When measuring blood pressure, the stethoscope is used to
detect Korotko sounds in order to determine systolic and diastolic blood pressure
in adults or children.
1.4 Contraindications
No contraindications are known to date.

2.2 Basic safety precautions on handling the device
• Please follow the precautions in these Instructions for Use
• Keep the instructions for use in a safe place.
CAUTION! Avoiding injuries
• Never use stethoscopes without ear tips.
• Do not use stethoscopes without diaphragms.
• Do not push ear plugs too far into the auditory canal.
NOTICE!
• Check that the product is working perfectly before using it each time.
• Do not use the product if it is visibly damaged.
• Avoid damaging the rubber parts with sharp or pointed objects.
• These products may not be taken into strong magnetic elds,
for example MRI, and used there.
• Only use genuine seca spare parts.
• Avoid subjecting the device to shocks.
• Follow the care instructions.
• Check regularly for soiling and clean if required.
• Do not sterilize using heat.
• Do not immerse in cleaning liquid and protect from dirt to prevent
cleaning liquids or solid bodies getting into the system of hollow
spaces inside the stethoscope.
• Do not expose the stethoscope to any direct UV radiation,
this applies to all rubber parts in particular.
NOTE:
• Only qualied persons may interpret the results.
• seca stethoscopes are free of DEHP and latex.
2.3 Ambient conditions
• Storage at room temperature between -10 °C and 40 °C
• Relative humidity below 85 %
3. OPERATION
3.1 Before use
Before any use involving direct contact with the body (patient/examiner),
ensure that you have cleaned and disinfected the item.
• 7

3.2 Handling the stethoscope
Please note the points below to obtain perfect hearing quality.
• Put the stethoscope on your head so that the ear tips are pointing in your
direction of view. This ensures that the ear tips are put into the ear from the
back to suit the anatomy of the auditory canal.
• You can reduce the initial tension of the stethoscope and thus the pressure on
the auditory canal by taking the headset between your thumb and forenger
and slowly pulling the limbs apart.
• If the initial tension is not enough to ensure that the stethoscope is rmly located
in the ear, you can increase it by taking the headset between your thumb and
forenger and carefully pushing the limbs together.
• Check regularly that the ear tips are rmly attached to the ends of the headset.
NOTE: Switching over stethoscopes which have a double chest piece
• When using a stethoscope with a double chest piece, you need to ensure
that you have selected the right side for your intended purpose by turning
the chest piece. Only one side is ever activated for auscultation.
• The switch is made by rotating the chest piece 180 ° until you hear a click.
4. HYGIENE TREATMENT
4.1 Cleaning and caring for stethoscopes
NOTICE! Damage to device
Unsuitable cleaning agents and disinfectants may damage the sensitive
surfaces of the device.
• Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.
• Do not use white spirit or petroleum spirit.
• Only use disinfectants suitable for sensitive surfaces. Suitable disinfectants
are available from specialist dealers.
• For cleaning, we recommend a damp cotton or microber cloth wetted
with disinfectant if appropriate.
• Prevent liquids from penetrating the housing.
• Do not immerse the stethoscope in liquids or autoclave it.
The stethoscope can be cleaned by spraying or wiping with disinfectant.
• Spray disinfecting: spray all parts with the cleaning product/disinfectant and
leave the products to take eect in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
If necessary, wipe over with a dry cotton cloth afterwards.
• Disinfecting by wiping: wet the stethoscope or a cloth with the cleaning
product/disinfectant. Then wipe over the surfaces applying a gentle pressure.
• To support these cleaning methods, please use only clean, soft cotton cloths.

Cleaning by spraying
or wiping with
disinfectant
We recommend the following cleaning products and disinfectants:
• Fugaten®spray (Lysoform spray)
• Esemx®from Schülke (foam cleaner)
• Promanum®pure from Braun
• Meliseptol®Foam pure from Braun
Care To maintain the elasticity of the tubing and other non-metal components,
we recommend using a care product designed for vinyl.
5. SERVICING
The stethoscope requires no servicing.
6. DISPOSAL
This device consists of high-quality raw materials which can be recycled. Dispose
of the device in accordance with the local laws and regulations applicable in your
country.
7. WARRANTY
There is a two-year warranty period from delivery for defects attributable to poor
materials or workmanship. Defects which come under the warranty will be repaired
for the customer free of charge against proof of purchase. Additional claims cannot
be considered. Costs of transport to and from seca are the responsibility of the
customer if the device is located somewhere other than the customer’s headquarters.
In the event of transport damage, warranty claims can only be made if the complete
original packaging was used for transport and the device was secured and fastened
therein according to its originally-packed condition. You should therefore keep all
packaging parts.
The warranty will be voided if the device is opened by persons not expressly
authorized by seca to do so.

1.2 Domaine d’utilisation
Les stéthoscopes seca sont utilisés essentiellement par les médecins et le personnel
formé aux méthodes d’auscultation des organes tels que cœur, poumon, intestin,
artères, et à l’appréciation de leurs bruits. Lors de la prise de tension, le stéthoscope
est utilisé pour l’écoute des bruits de Korotko, permettant d’établir la pression
systolique et diastolique chez les adultes et les enfants.
1.4 Contre-indications
