2.Test Purpose: This test assesses cell and batte y seal integ ity and inte nal elect ical connections. The test

is conducted using apid and ext eme tempe atu e changes.

3.Test Procedure:

Test cells and batte ies a e to be sto ed fo at least six hou s at a test tempe atu e equal to 75±2℃, followed

by sto age fo at least six hou s at a test tempe atu e equal to -40±2℃.The maximum time inte nal between

test tempe atu e ext emes is 30 minutes.This p ocedu e is to be epeated 10 times, afte which all test cells

and batte ies a e to be sto ed fo 24 hou s at ambient tempe atu e (20 ±5℃). Fo la ge cells and batte ies the

du ation of exposu e to the test tempe atu e ext emes should be at least 12 hou s.

1.Test Item: Vib ation (T3) P.5/10

2.Test Purpose: This test simulates vib ation du ing t anspo t.

3.Test Procedure:

Cells and batte ies a e fi mly secu ed to the platfo m of the vib ation machine without disto ting the cells in such a

manne as to faithfully t ansmit the vib ation. The vib ation shall be a sinusoidal wavefo m with a loga ithmic sweep

between 7 Hz and 200 Hz and back to 7 Hz t ave sed in 15 minutes.This cycle shall be epeated 12 times fo a

total of 3 hou s fo each of th ee mutually pe pendicula mounting positions of the cell. One of the di ections of

vib ation must be pe pendicula to the te minal face.

The loga ithmic f equency sweep is as follows: f om 7 Hz a peak accele ation of 1gn is maintained until 18 Hz is

eached. The amplitude is then maintained at 0.8 mm(1.6 mm total excu sion) and thef equency inc eased until a

peak accele ation of 8gn occu s (app oximately 50Hz).A peak accele ation of 8 gn is then maintained until the

f equency is inc eased to 200Hz.

2.Test Purpose: This test simulates possible impacts du ing t anspo t.

3.Test Procedure:

Test cells and batte ies shall be secu ed to the testing machine by means of a igid mount which will suppo t all mounting

su faces of each test batte y. Each cell o batte y shall be subjected to a half-sine shock of pack accele ation of 150 g n

and pulse du ation of 6 milliseconds. Each cell o batte y shall be subjected to th ee shocks in the positive di ection

followed by th ee shocks in the negative di ection of th ee mutually pe pendicula mounting positions of the cell o

batte y fo a total of 18 shocks.

Howeve , la ge cells and la ge batte ies shall be subjected to a half-sine shock of peak accele ation of 50 g n and pulse

du ation of 11 milliseconds. Each cell o batte y is subjected to th ee shocks in the positive di ection followed by th ee

shocks in the negative di ection of each of th ee mutually pe pendicula mounting positions of the cell fo a total of 18

shocks.

55±2℃ and then the cell o batte y shall be subjected to a sho t ci cuit condition with a total exte nal

esistance of less than 0.1ohm at 55±2℃.This sho t ci cuit condition is continued fo at least one hou afte

the cell o batte y exte nal case tempe atu e has etu ned to 55±2℃. The cell o batte y must be obse ved

fo a fu the six hou s fo the test to be concluded.

2.Test Purpose: T is test simulates an impact.

3.Test Procedure:

T e test sample cell or component cell is to be placed on a flat surface. A 15.8mm diameter bar is to be placed across

t e center of t e sample. A 9.1kg mass is to be dropped from a eig t of 61±2.5cm onto t e sample.

A cylindrical or prismatic cell is to be impacted wit its longitudinal axis parallel to t e flat surface and perpendicular to

t e longitudinal axis of t e 15.8mm diameter curved surface lying across t e centre of t e test sample. A prismatic

cell is also to be rotated 90 degrees around its longitudinal axis so t at bot t e wide and narrow sides will be subjected

to t e impact. Eac sample is to be subjected to only a single impact. Separate samples are to be used for eac impact.

A coin or button cell is to be impacted wit t e flat surface of t e sample parallel to t e flat surface and t e 15.8mm

diameter curved surface lying across its center.
