SAMS SETUP
If your computer is not installed with .NET framework 3.5 with SP1, it may require restarting the computer for its
installation. In the case, restart when prompted and continue to install.
The sa logon password may be restricted depending on the security policy of your PC.
Custom installation is recommended only for those accustomed to MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.
The SQL Server 2008 R2 Express installation may require several minutes.
When installing the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, screens shown below appears.
On a certain case, installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Express may fail to finish due to conflicts to existing application
programs installed on the computer. No further support is provided in such occasions. Refer to Microsoft knowledge
base or forums, or try clean installation of the operating system.
For custom installation or installation with existing MS SQL Server products, make sure to select mixed authentication
mode (Windows authentication and SQL Server authentication). SAMS database connection supports SQL Server
authentication only.
For custom installation or installation with existing MS SQL Server products, and if the computer’s operating system is
Windows Vista or Windows 7, make sure to log on as local system for database restore, to avoid security problems.
When installing, set NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE of the service or set SQL Server service property to local service
in Control Panel →Administrative Tools →Services.
If failed to install the SQL Server 2008 R2, a warning message appears and the installation aborts.
In such cases, refer to the SQL Server Setup Log shown in the message box to clear the problem and try installation
again.
