1 Introduction

813 Compact Autosampler 1

1 Introduction

1.1 Instrument description

The 813 Compact Autosampler can be used for automat-

ing different tasks, e.g. ion chromatographic determinations with

the Metrohm IC system instruments or voltammetric determina-

tions with the Metrohm 746 Trace Analyzer or 757 VA Com-

putrace . The sample rack provided may hold up to 36 vials of 2.5

or 11 mL volume respectively. Sample tubes made of polypropyl-

ene are standard. To protect the samples from external contami-

nation, the tubes can be hermetically sealed.

Sample introduction from the 813 Compact Autosampler is

achieved by means of its integrated peristaltic pump. The sample

is conveyed by the pump through the capillary into e. g. the sam-

ple loop of the injector located within an ion chromatograph. A

PEEK needle for sealed or a PEEK tube for open sample tubes

can be used alternatively.

Preprogrammed methods for the most common modes of opera-

tion allow to use the 813 Compact Autosampler directly, without

programming effort.

Never operate the instrument without splash protection and plug

cover being mounted.

The plug cover prevents any contamination of the connectors,

caused by spilled solvents or chemicals.
