Use the table below to troubleshoot resistance issues. If a symptom has more than one possible cause,

complete the test and, as necessary, the repair, to eliminate each possible cause, in order, until the issue

is resolved.

IMPORTANT:If the repair column states to replace the ECB motor1, follow the instructions on page 5.

Press the up or down arrow to adjust

resistance. Meanwhile, observe the

black wheel on the ECB motor: does

it turn at all (with or without the

tension wire attached)?

- If the wheel turns without the

wire, but not with the wire, the

ECB motor is damaged.

- If the wheel doesn’t turn at all,

confirm Demo Mode is off. If the

issue remains, the ECB motor

may be burned out.

- Perform a voltage check on the

ECB motor.

Replace the ECB

motor.

ECB motor skipping

- Check the tension wire. If it is

routed incorrectly, try to fix the

routing issue.

- Press the up or down arrow to

adjust resistance. Meanwhile,

observe the black wheel on the

ECB motor: does the wheel

start to rotate and then bounce

back to its original position

(“skip”)?

If the tension wire

routing issue

reoccurs after it is

fixed, or if you

observe the wheel

skipping, replace the

ECB motor.

APPENDIX

ECB Motor Damage

If appropriate installation steps are not followed while installing the ECB motor, the tension wire bracket

and/or internal motor gears can become damaged.

- If the internal gears are damaged, a ticking or clicking noise may come from the motor.

- The photo below shows a damaged tension wire bracket. It’s not possible to repair the bracket, so

if this part is damaged, the motor must be replaced.

ECB Motor Tension Wire Orientation

When installed correctly, the tension wire loops down and then around the black wheel. The photo below

shows the motor in correct position when the unit is at the lowest resistance level.

Magnetic Brake Position

The photo below shows the gap between the orange block and the bottom of the ECB (flywheel) track.

When the unit is at the highest resistance level, the gap should be 1-2 mm.

If the gap is larger than 1-2 mm, the resistance will be higher than normal. Adjust the cable to the correct

gap range.

ECB Motor Replacement Procedure

Required Tools:

•Phillips screwdriver

•Needle nose or bent nose pliers

Follow these steps to replace the ECB motor:

1. Turn off and unplug the unit.

2. Using a screwdriver, remove the appropriate covers to access the ECB motor.

3. Remove the old ECB motor: unplug two wires from the resistance motor, disconnect the tension

wire, and remove 4 screws to remove the motor from the frame.

4. Plug in the new motor. (The black sensor wire plugs into the side, and the white/blue

communication wire plugs into the top of the motor.)

5. Use a screwdriver to remove the black wheel from the motor; set the wheel and screw aside.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT move on to the next step until the black wheel has been removed.

6. Plug in and power on the unit. Once the console powers on, the motor will automatically adjust to

position itself at the lowest resistance level. You may see the white pulley socket rotate.

7. Use a screwdriver to attach the motor to the frame (reuse the screws that were removed in step

3). (The motor may continue to adjust as you complete this step.)

IMPORTANT: After completing step 7, wait for one full minute before beginning step 8. This ensures

the motor will complete any final adjustments before you reinstall the tension wire.

8. Thread the tension wire through the bracket.

9. Attach the puck on the tension wire to the black wheel.

10. Pull to extend the tension wire to its full length. Once you’ve extended the wire, use pliers to hold

it taut near the bracket.

11. Reattach the wheel to the motor:

•Rotate the black wheel clockwise until there is no slack in the tension wire. It is important

to orient the wire correctly, looping down and then up around the wheel. The wire’s path

is illustrated by the red arrow in the photo below.

•Press the wheel into the ECB at the closest point that the hex will fit in, making sure the

tension wire is as tight as possible.

12. Use a screwdriver to reattach the wheel to the motor.

13. Test the unit.

•When the cable is fully extended against spring tension, the resistance should be at

minimum (see photo below).

•When the cable is not extended, the resistance should be at maximum.

Note: The pulley completes just over half a (counter-clockwise) rotation from minimum to

maximum resistance.

14. Reattach all covers.
